Valve announced on steampowered:
"Civ V is now available on the Mac!
Become Ruler of the World by establishing and leading a civilization from the dawn of man into the space age: Wage war, conduct diplomacy, discover new technologies, go head-to-head with some of history’s greatest leaders and build the most powerful empire the world has ever known."
New upcoming patch updates for Civilization V have been posted by Greg "2K" Laabs on the 2K Forums. There's no ETA date known yet. Most interesting changes are that unit promotions and new civic choices can't be delayed anymore, maritime city states bonus has been decreased and an option to stop automated workers from removing existing features.

Thanks to Jaybe for the heads up.
Firaxis is now looking for a Multiplayer Programmer. Not for new systems, but to "[m]aintain, improve and/or refactor existing systems" and "[s]upport existing matchmaking systems". Good news for Civilization V!? Since it's release Civ5 has suffered from many issues in multiplayer games. So far Firaxis and 2K Games have promised to look at these issues in the future, but not in the patches that are currently in development. This future may start as soon as this new programmer has been found.
Mark of the German MP community:
The Civilization 5 - European League is going to host a Welcome-1on1-Cup on October, 29th 2010!
Althought Civilization V was released on 21st of September the game is not
free of bugs. Therefore the game is facing some problems in the Multiplayer-Mode which made it hard for the League to get a good and smooth start.
Errors and crashes are mostly gone now and therefore we are going to
host a Cup for the community!
Of course there will be some nice prices to win! The first price will be a Sid Meier's Civilization V - Special Edition worth around 80 €! Furthermore players can win original Civilization 5 T-Shirts, Stickers and Buttons!
According to Steam the following updates have been made to Civilization 5. The patch will automatically be installed when you get online with steam and start to play Civ5.

Edit by jobe: LDeska created mirrored versions of Pangae and Continents following the tradition of his great maps from Civ4. While mirrored maps may not be everyone´s choice in Single Player, they are - now in Civ5 more then ever - very important for Multi Player.
Especially if you plan on playing a duel, the mirroed Pangae could be a great choice since while allowing for lots of attack angles it provides equal resources and land to both players.
I created this map script for our ranking games. It is ideally mirrored - terrain, rivers, features, natural wonders, starting positions etc (I haven't mirrored ruins as we do not use this random aspect of game).
Example of map generated by this script:
Once again Greg "2K Greg" Laabs of 2K Games has updated his Patch-post at the 2k forums. The ETA has not been changed (The week of October 18th, that's this week)
new changes added:
If there are less than 5 buildings still needed to construct a National Wonder, the production popup tool-tip now lists which cities lack them.
Added Yield & Culture tool-tip info to the production popup.
Tweak information on the Global Politics tab in the Diplomacy Overview screen.
Balance - Disbanding units now provides only 10% of their production cost in gold.
Request – Enable “one more turn” button if you lose, but are still alive.
Military – Defensive tactical AI update. When you are at war and threatening an enemy city, the AI will better utilize the garrison, as well as the surrounding terrain in defense of the target city.
After weeks of speculation and rumors the official word is finally out! Civilization V will come to the Mac!
Aspyr Media announced today that it will bring Civilization 5 to the Mac in this year's holiday season! Ted Staloch of Aspyr Media: "The Civilization franchise is a fan-favorite and one of the best-selling Mac games ever. We are thrilled to be able to participate in this newest version and bring Mac gamers this native experience so close to the PC launch" (source)
Aspyr's Homepage is already covering Civ5 full on it's frontpage! Aspyr also ported Civ IV to the Mac in June 2006. This time Civ-fans with macs won't have to wait a long 9 months!
This strategy is basically an exploit of unbalanced game mechanics. If you get all parts of it together - and that is not too hard even on the highest difficulty levels in Single Player - you will be at a big advantage whatever your game might look like. All-in-all the strategy works well even if you miss on the 2-3 wonders you´re especially interested in. Be aware that there is a bug increasing Persian Golden Ages to ridiculous numbers. This strategy is not based on this bug - depending on the settings and game plan, you´ll be in Golden Age most of the game bug or not. In Civ5 tile yields have been generally decreased compared to Civ4, while Golden Ages still provide one additional production and gold to every tile that already generates either. Furthermore Golden Ages are much easier accessible: Excess happiness leads to it, Cultural Policies can trigger one, there is Taj Mahal and most importantly Great People including Great Generals can launch it. Finally GAs last slightly longer by default than in Civ4. Basically Golden Ages are stronger by default, yet easier accessible than in Civ4. Enter Persia:
