Oh isn't it a wonderful world we live in! The Digital Age was ushered in faster then speedy Gonzalez could blink. One if its many marvels has been the Information Superhighway -- just behind electronic mail in popularity, the World Wide Web is #2 of the services in which we use most often on the Net.
Anything you can think of, from the everyday to ludicrous, the WWW has heaps of sites devoted to it (so now you can see that you're not the only one who enjoys a cool bowl of onions and Jell-O). IMO, one of the most prosperous sections of this expansive community is gaming. Ignoring those pesimists who forecast the Net will collapse under its own weight, it is most certainly only going to grow in appreciation and sophistication. There are websites devoted to gaming in general (i.e. GameStats, GameSpot, ORG & GamersCentral) and then there are those who channel all their energies towards a specific game or game genre. I can't even begin to list all of those gaming sites (Apolyton included) who appreciate all the support that has been graceously bestowed upon them from gamers local and abroad. Even more impressive in recent months has been the incredibly overwhelming response from the gaming companies who produced and/or published these games. Who could ask for more?
This isn't to say that the gaming community is without its problems; nothing is. Some major and others minor in nature. No matter how you look at it, when we work together to better our content and presentation, it's a win-win situation. To what issues am I referring that need to be dealt with? I'll get the ball rolling [I do not necessarily agree or disagree with the following items; I'm just pointing them out]: gender bias, AI (or lack there-of), multiplayer cheating and violence. Recognize that thesse topics are as dangerous in nature as discussing atheism with a rabbi or communism with a CEO so if you bit off more then you chan chew... you've been forewarned.
So if there's something you worry about don't let it curdle into a big ball inside, SPEAK YOUR MIND (but try the diplomatic approach first OK?) There are enough bombs in existence to difuse without making more. If you have a constructive idea, take the bull by the horns and by all means share it! What good is it doing stewing around in your head? If you can't read, take some classes... ohhhh wait this message falls on deaf ears... scratch that. I am speaking primarily to gamers, but these concepts can apply to almost anything really.
In closing I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you who have faithfully acknowledged and supported gaming sites on the Net (fans and developers included). I extend a special thanks to those who have just begun to do so... you won't be disappointed! And to those of you who are still skeptical give acceptance a try. People = power and every positive addition is beneficial!
See you on the battlefield!
