  • Civilization 5 Hotfix Patch 1.0.1.348 has been released

Civilization 5 was patched to version 1.0.1.348. This patch is a hot fix. It fixes moding, makes HotSeat after saving and reloading playable even without an AI, and corrects a few minor issues. Here is the full list:
    • Hot-Seat: Refresh resource icons for each player so that you cannot see another players resource icons above the fog. This also allowed you to see the location of a natural wonder discovered by another player as well. Both have been addressed with this fix.
    • Hot-Seat: Fix auto-save issue that was causing “Next Turn” hangs on re-load when players had no AI in the match.
    • Policies: Fix an issue that was causing policy finishers to count against the cost of the next policy (should be free).
    • UI: Map Options panel now works correctly for both multi-player and single player.
    • Modding: Fix problem that caused errors when starting WorldBuilder.
    • Modding: Fix problem causing WorldBuilder maps loaded as scenarios to always load the first leader slot instead of the selected leader.
    • Exploit: Close exploit that allowed a user to “sell” a free building for gold each turn without losing the building.
    • Multiplayer: Because of a hot-seat change, the chat window would end your turn every time a user hit “enter” after typing something in chat. This is now corrected.

      I was so mistaken

I did not make my saving throw vs the Civgods

I had managed to play for 1 day and thought all was well

a couple days later, tried to play again

      WTF.......

      unplayable again

Im back to my original rant

GOOD BY CIV for ever, tired of wasting my time

Try one last thing: delete the game cache and database directories, if you haven't.

  • Do you Ever Move Your First Settler?
    by Aeson
An interesting article at The Escapist about Civilization and some of the goings-on behind the scenes at Firaxis:

    http://www.escapistmagazine.com/arti...s-Civ-V-Studio

I have a lot of problems with the methods Firaxis tested this with. Turning off barbs, limiting AI expansion ... those are two critical factors for how big an impact waiting to found your first city will be.

I myself like to move the other unit first, see if there's a good spot to move the Settler to in a couple of turns or less. A river hill is is hard to pass up moving to. The extra production from the hill will pay off the first move very quickly.

How about you? In what circumstances do you feel moving the Settler is a good idea?...
