CONFLICTS IN CIVILIZATION
# MP191 307 B/SR
First I will give you the information, that CiC is more than only a scenario disk. It is only an update with a few, but indeed, powerful new possibilities.
The first, and for 'only' players, most interesting thing is, that you are now able to store each scenario (with its units.gif, rules.txt e.g.) in its own directory. If you start now a scenario Civ2 accepts all *.gif and *.txt files (except city.gif (not cities.gif), label.txt and a few not important more). New is the title.gif, you can make and which will be shown before the description text. New is the events.txt (better known as new programming language; for further details see below). And attached is a new pedia.file (your new units are now shown in the civpedia, too). Resumed, with this update you do not need any longer to install scenarios again and again to the main civ2 directory.
The included scenarios:
All are done with CiC, all are great, interesting and bring new units to you.
- Alexander - new update to the well known scenario. With Alexander and Darius unit. You should never lose the leader unit of your side.
- Jihad* (The rise of islam) - the leadership of mohamed
- Crusades - new update
- Mongol - time of Genghis Khan (Temujin)
- Discovery - new update
- Independ - The war for independence of the USA (with Washington and Cornwallis unit)
- Napoleon - new update (with Napoleon and Nelson unit)
- Civil war - new update, new great units, a lot of leader units, the Monitor unit, River Fort unit e.g.
- World War I - with chemical warefare and more
- WW79 - this is world war III, when the Iranian invaded the US Embassy.
- After the apocalypse - Mutants fight against Saurus and other fantastic Civilizations. Every unit is new and they are seperated attached to the single Civilizations.
- Alien Invasion - play the Hodads and invade the earth or play the humans and fight for freedom. Hossads have their own units.
- Best of the net scenarios: Antonio's Atolon and Cholera of Zeus, Conquest of Britain, Cross and Crescent, The fall of great Kesh, East wind_rain, Persian gulf war, Native rebellion
Well, this is no real programming language. Before I write too much about it, I let you know about the available
triggers and actions in the events.txt.

CIVILIZATION II 'THE OFFICIAL STRATEGY GUIDE'
ISBN 0-7615-0106-1
The book has 370 pages written in 'easy' English, so you do not need very good English knowledge to read. In ten chapters you will get information about City management, tips, strategies and much more. But the most important, for myself, is found in Chapter 10 'Game Customization and Modification'. Here you find everything about the rules.txt, units, e.g. And in the Appendix (10 Pages) you find a description about the Scenario Editor (Cheat Mode). This is what I missed in the Civ2 decription which is added to the game CD. If you find this book, or are able to get this book - BUY IT! This book is a must for everybody who wants to start up with creating scenarios for Civ2 (If you are an expert in creating scenarios take a look into it first). Well, you do not find a solution to each of your problems inside but the first keys to your own scenarios!
