On the 16th of December the next DLC will be released by Firaxis/2kGames. Specifically, this will include two new civilizations (the Spanish and the Inca), and a 'new world exploration' 1492 scenario. Spain will be ruled by Isabella la Católica, whereas the mighty Inca will be overseen by Pachacuti.
The DLC can be acquired for $7.49 or €4.99, even if the value of the Euro drops any further .
This particular DLC appears to be the pre-order bonus pack (2 Civs / 1 Scenario) which was promised by Direct2Drive.

by DanQIn 2016 under the Civilized Communication banner, Civilization fans can look forward to the ongoing production of three podcasts. More Civ co-operative multiplay is to be had in the sixth season of TurnCast, further exploration of modding in the series on the eighth season of ModCast and greater Civ strategy conversations on the landmark tenth season of PolyCast. Episodes of the latter most are to continue to be recorded live every other Saturday starting at 12PM ET (North America), starting January 9th (timezone converter).
Meanwhile, efforts to restart the Civ social SCivCast to now focus on the recently released Civilization Online will be ongoing having begun at the end of last year. Elsewise, the dramedy series One More Turn is to record and release its fourth season, the thirteen episodes of which are currently being written. Before that the third season blooper reel and commentary is to be released by January's end.
Recurring updates on the above efforts are to be summarized in follow-up posts throughout the calendar year. Keep on Civ'in, laughing and living....-

by DanQWinter welcome. The two-hundred-and-forty-forth episode of PolyCast, "Not Just a Lame Clip Show XVII", features regular co-hosts Daniel "DanQ" Quick, "Makahlua", Philip "TheMeInTeam" Bellew and "MadDjinn" with then first-time guest co-host Lotfi "ZTZaorish" Kerzabi in the seventeenth compilation of segments archived from previous episode recordings and not released previously. Its 59m59s runtime is extended coverage of a broad topic: the response to a detailed outline for designing a Civilization VI with an empire management design philosophy is just as comprehensive (recorded for Episode 237).
Recording live every other Saturday, PolyCast is a bi-weekly audio production in an ongoing effort to give the Civ community an interactive voice on game strategy; sibling show RevCast focuses on Civilization: Revolution, ModCast on Civ modding, SCivCast on Civ social gaming and TurnCast on Civ multiplay. Concluding PolyCast's ninth season, another compilation is to be published on January 9th as its Season 10 premiere... right after the live recording of its next episode.-

I have just purchased the steam christmas discount civ 5. Yeay, go me. As I did so while on christmas vacation I don't have my gaming station with me and as such, I can't test a few things I started wondering about:
1. In the digital deluxe version of civ5, you get Babylon as an added civ, and apparently... the music!? It says game soundtrack is a part of digital deluxe version only. Does that mean that since I bought the regular version there is no music in my game?
2. I have noticed a lot of DLC popping up lately, new maps, new scenarios, new civs. Can I rightly assume that all of these will later be included in the first expansion pack (at likely a reduced total price)? Or will we over time end up with a civ5 game that is unplayable multiplayer-wise since there will be literally thousands of different versions of the game based on what DLC different players have acquired?
3. How does modding work compared to DLC? Can I share freely maps and scenarios I have created, or is this now the sole domain of firaxis' money making machine? is it possible to make use of the steam platform to share modded maps and scenarios? what kind of DRM or other user-unfriendly software has been included in civ5 to make sure people don't share DLC freely?
4. Though I don't particularly approve of the DLC business model, having new additions to a game more than every 12 months is not a bad idea. Unfortunately, at the current rate, there will soon be more DLC than actual game. The current total sum of all DLC bought separately from the regular game is now 20.44€. While the game is at 49.99€ (current steam prices). Can I assume that within a year's time, DLC will combined cost more than the game?
RANT:
Another thing I am annoyed with is the (same as civ4) unpolished release. Did 2k/firaxis learn nothing from the fan-outrage at the release of civ4? with exp.packs civ4 ended up being a great game, but at release it was a huge disappointment, buggy and unpolished. exactly as its current successor. The result was that my initial decision was to postpone buying civ5 until at least the first expansion pack, or to when there was a sale (christmas sale got me). I think a lot of people are thinking that the game is not worth the tag price under current conditions, and I happen to know a number of people who acquired the game through other means for exactly this reason, playing it until they realised how unfinished it was, deleted it and will likely never pay a dime for it. In older times customer relations was the bedrock of business, it seems 2k has no clue what that concept means. It is strange that a company like for instance Blizzard who is widely seen as one of the most profitable are also by their users one of the most well-liked, precisely because of the guarantee that their purchased product is a solid, stand-alone, finely polished and tuned game (though improvements will also be implemented). The Blizzard logo on a game = supreme quality. I remember a time when the Microprose logo was = quality. Firaxis/2k is = shoddy, and there seems to be no desire, or at least no effort to change this. I find this disappointing and puzzling, though if the thought behind it is cynical profiteering at the expense of the fanbase it makes "sense". In the same manner that peeing your pants in the winter to stay warm makes "sense".
