The OFFICIAL United States Presidential Election Thread! IV
Looks like a feeding frenzy at a cannibal thanksgiving. The youth movement looks like it will implode again. I wonder if the College Dems will drop from their purpoted "thousands" of chapters back down to under 500 again?
Well I guess I won't object to a sexy picture of her....
I'd go back to the madonna I had before, just like I did last year.

Given that exit polls indicate that people voted for or against W. for moral/religious reasons and that people are (reportedly) beginning to physically segregate themselves by state, city and community, I wonder if the USA will remain a single country in the long term.

nah, we'll just end up like switzerland as neighbors who don't like each other. Maybe we can have a dual language english/bushism system sort like Canada does with english/french

I'll say this: I think Blue Staters will be a helluva lot more interested in "States Rights" going forward.
But secession? Nah. That's just joking. For now, anyway. The South (led by SC) started talking about secession long before they actually did it. No one here is seriously discussing secession yet. So even if it is the eventual outcome (doubtful, IMO), it's decades off.

I'd be tempted to move, in that situation, but you also have to remember that it doesn't take that many of the religionists to form a community amongst themselves.

Up until the mid 90's red was the color for the Democrats and Blue was the color for the Republicans. All the Democrats wore red ribbons on election day to show their allegience to their Party.
I have no idea why they switched colors.
/me shrugs shoulders
Call it a nation-wide flip-flop, I guess.
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.
The Weighted Companion Cube is cheating on you, that slut.
A thing to consider: Bushies will probably make a new push for the FMA. With a number of Democratic senators in red states being up to re-election, there will be a considerable temptation for them to vote it, especially considering the strength of the anti-gay marriage vote that represented itself.
"Spirit merges with matter to sanctify the universe. Matter transcends to return to spirit. The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency
"That’s the future of the Democratic Party: providing Republicans with a number of cute (but not that bright) comfort women." - Adam Yoshida, Canada's gift to the world

This what I talked about earlier. In the near future, gays and lesbians might be without any political party.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

It's easy. Because the competition was perceived as worse. What's so hard to understand about that?
It's the ultimate insult to Kerry.
Instead of making fun of REPUBS for being stupid, you should be making fun of Democrats that thought Kerry was presidential material and voted him to be their candidate.
I would have voted for the Democrat if it had been even a decent candidate. But Kerry, I wouldn't trust him to set policy for walking my dog. And that's why he lost. Too many repubs that didn't really want to vote for bush felt the same way. So the Democrats have to carry the burden also.
As far as I understand, the major issue was that Bush won his misinformation war.
Kerry was viewed as a far-left Liberal (when he is only slightly left of centeR).
He was viewed as not fiscally responsible (which he always has been).
And there are other similar issues. His campaign failed to strongly indicate his positions.

"If there's a child on the south side of Chicago who can't read, that matters to me, even if it's not my child. If there's a senior citizen somewhere who can't pay for her prescription and has to choose between medicine and the rent, that makes my life poorer, even if it's not my grandmother. If there's an Arab American family being rounded up without benefit of an attorney or due process, that threatens my civil liberties. It's that fundamental belief -- I am my brother's keeper, I am my sister's keeper -- that makes this country work." - Barack Obama
