Aeson, that deaths caused by pneumonia, not incidents of pneumonia. American emergency care is good, but preventative care could be much better than it. "Just" catching pneumonia is very rare here. It's usually a complication caused by flu or another disease, not something you get all of a sudden, unless it's a hospital strain. Maybe American ubiquitous ACs are to blame for it as well?

Try wiki, you wankers. It's not hard. "Pneumonia" means a general condition of inflammation of the lungs, primarily the alveoli. It can be caused by a number of things, typically but not always pathogens. Wiki mentions that medication and autoimmune conditions can also cause pneumonia.

In-window or split-systems ACs probably don't, but centralized HVAC systems have lots of long, warm and damp ventilation ducts where bacteria and mold can grow if they are not serviced right.
