Point, though my understanding is there are times when this can't work either. Sometimes the mother is too weak to handle a C-section (such as if she has highly progressed cancer or aids). Very rare, but it needs to be considered by the law.

If there's a senior citizen somewhere who can't pay for her prescription and has to choose between medicine and the rent, that makes my life poorer, even if it's not my grandmother. If there's an Arab American family being rounded up without benefit of an attorney or due process, that threatens my civil liberties. It's that fundamental belief -- I am my brother's keeper, I am my sister's keeper -- that makes this country work." - Barack Obama

Though, if the mother isn't going to survive anyway...

Hmm, it is probably very, very rare in such cases. I am fairly sure there are times when an abortion can increase the likelihood of survival.

If the woman is going to have problems delivering the baby, won't these same problems come with partial birth abortion?

After all, you have to pull the child almost all the way out. All but the head.

Why would it be less safe to do an emergency c-section than to induce delivery?

BTW, the primary complication in late pregnancy, eclampsia, the preferred treatment is a c-section.

        • Drach, from my understanding, a partial birth abortion happens when the viable baby is almost fully outside the mother. The doctor then stops further movement of the baby out while he then kills it.

If this is correct, there is no conceivable "health" reason for the deliberate murder taking place.

          • They just want to live in peace and be left alone by the government without fear of there lifestyle being regulated (eg: Hunting)

Homosexuals don't want their lifestyle being regulated either, but the Right doesn't seem to want to them to have that right.

I may be moving to Kansas shortly, because I have a couple lines on similar-paying jobs, while expenses are cut in half compared to New Jersey.

Ned: Everyones' taxes are going to go up big time because we owe so much money plus interest. Don't tax but spend any way Republicans have seriously damaged the future health of our country and now it isn't clear how we're going to pay off our debt and pay for the retirement of the baby boomers.

I agree that activist judges are bad but you seem to be under the impression that rightist don't nominate activist judges. They do and they've been trying to back door legislate an anti-choice/pro-religion agenda upon the rest of us.

My parents are living in Overland Park, so I've been looking around the KC area. found a sweet little farmhouse in Paola (using the internet), though that's a little far afield. Couple other finds are closer to KC, but that farmhouse is cool.

That in a consumer-driven economy, it helps to put money in the hands of consumers?

The flight of jobs from the north to south is at best a stop-gap. Those jobs will then go from there to Mexico and points south, then to China, then to places like Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand. It's happening already; it's been happening.
