I could see if that was just Europe, but if just about the ENTIRE world does that then there's a problem on Bush's end too.
and things were a little different back then. We were still in the cold war

      • And did you know that the very popular Bill Clinton planned to initiate nuclear war in Korea?

"Seoul, South Korea, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Newly declassified documents revealed the United States planned as recently as 1998 to drop nuclear bombs on North Korea if the country attacked South Korea.

As part of "scenario 5027," 24 F15-E bombers flew simulation missions at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina to drop mock nuclear bombs on a firing range between January and June 1998, the Korea Times reported Sunday.

The revelation followed claims by a South Korean lawmaker that the U.S. drew up plans to launch preemptive strikes on key targets in North Korea in 1994.

The report also came amid concerns that President George Bush will take a tougher stance with North Korea during his second term.

The declassified documents also said the U.S. had kept nuclear weaponry in South Korea until at least 1998, despite officially claiming it had withdrawn all nuclear warheads in 1991."

The Washington Times delivers breaking news and commentary on the issues that affect the future of our nation.

Yes we have free press in the US; but it is under constant assault by the left. Constant.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

              1. The Iraq War is very unpopular here, especially after a Korean got his head chopped off.
              2. Including NKorea in the "Axis of Evil" and in general not trying harder to negotiate with ith as pissed off a lot of very idealistic (and often stupid) Korean nationalists.
              3. Some of Bush's gaffes get publicized in the Korean press, much laughing ensues.
              4. Bush not wanting to negotiate the Status of Forces Agreement especially after the girls went splat a few years ago.
              5. A while ago a lot of Korean nationalists thought that China would make a much better strategic/economic partner than the US, but recently they've been pissed off a China's attempts to claim that Gorgoryo (one of the three pre-unification Korean kingdoms) was Chinese, which some people think is a prelude to China attempting to grab some of NKorea when the government goes splat.

The reasons why Bush is unpopular in Korea aren't necessarily good reasons, but the fact that Bush is similarly unpopular across most of the world points to some pretty incompetant diplomacy on Bush's part.

You win, Koguryo gets waaaaaaay more goolge hits than the alternatives. Don't know what I was thinking, I guess I'm in too much of a habit of transliterating Korean phonetically instead of according to the official system.

Reminds me of a debate on TV here between a Democrat black leader and a Republican black leader as to who blacks in the US should support and why. The Republican black leader talked about the social issues and said that blacks needed to support Bush. The Democrat leader talked about the Iraq war and the unbalanced budget. He sounded like an echo of that day's Democrat talking points. He never once said anything that pertained to blacks in particular. Not once.

Once clued into this, I begain to pay attention to other Democrat black leaders. Ditto. They all sounded like shills of the national campaign and never once alluded to anything blacks cared about.

So when you say that Bush is unpopular because of the Iraq war in Korea, I see a pattern that seems to hold equally as well here in the US. The Iraq war has almost nothing at all to do with Korea just as it has nothing at all to do with blacks in America. But one's attitude about the war can be swayed by the way the media reports what is going on in Iraq and what we are fighting for. It seems to me that the media outside the US is uniformly hostile to the Iraq war and never reports what is going on in Iraq without some dire negative spin. Never.

Perhaps we Republicans are guilty at times in denying the truth about our presidents, but are level of self denial pales by comparison to that of the Democrats concerning their presidents.
