  • University was my thought as well for The Warning, however I did not spot any new buildings. Probably my old eyes.

    • The Warning = 10h (-186)

If this city went from 186h to 10h, there has to be a build swap involved. Anytime a build is completed with no swap, a city must spend a turn at 0 hammers invested.

The swap could go either direction. Either the city paused the 186H item and spent 10H into a new item, or they finished the 186H item and resumed an older build with 10H invested. The latter is probably more likely, since the former would mean setting aside a whopping 186H, and 10H is pretty low for a capital city.

Or another scenario is that 186H is the Taj, and the 10H build is carefully calculated to whip something and overflow back onto the Taj. Let's see if they whip something.

      • Looking back at The Warning for the last few turns:

        T147: The Warning = 118h
T148: The Warning = 186h (+68) Grocer build is noted
        T149: The Warning = 196h (+10)
        T150: The Warning = 10h (-186) (I'm guessing this should have been -196)

Now I don't pretend to know how to read these things, but if the Grocer build is accurate, there are some screwy things going on.

Edit: there was a 4-pop whip on T147, could they have cold-whipped the Grocer to generate overflow as well?

That's not correct according to my (by now long) experience in keep track of those numbers.

          • I remember seeing that effect when I originally tested out the formula in a SP sandbox. Not 100% sure, though. So what exactly makes up that 10 hammers figure? Does overflow from the previous build count towards the "sabotage production" number? I'll test some later, unless you beat me to it

Yes, that's seems to be the case.
For example say I log in right after turn begin and get say 100h for a PAL city. Then afterwards PAL logs in and whips. Then I get 130h for that PAL city the same turn.

So overflow seems to count as sabotagable production.

I completely agree with that. But I'm talking about the next turn. Suppose the city completes a 100H item. The next turn, that PAL city will have 0 hammers in the box. The 30H will be listed in the mouseover as "30H from overflow" and will not be in the box yet and will not count towards the sabotage cost. Am I wrong on that? (I'll test later.)

                  • Mutal and Lakhama have to be working on wonders, right? There aren't any city buildings that cost 290+ hammers, are there?

                    • No there aren't. I think we'll see them finish the university of Sangkore in about 4 turns, possible the Sistine Chapel too.

Looks like The Warning will be starting on Oxford University soon. 4 universities done that we can see.

                            • PAL just double-whipped something and Byblos' Sabotage cost jumped to 667. I assume that means that Byblos was the city that was whipped. I predict a library. I like this game!

Are they saving for mass upgrades or for 100% science once they have some more universities in place. The last option makes sense even if I haven't ever thought of that sort of mm before.
