    • I do not recognize the legitimacy of sacraments nor the church.
Sure. Doesn't change the fact that you were baptized and confirmed.

      • It's amazing how you change your story to suit the occasion. But it's something we've all come to expect from that sack of **** that is Ben.
I think the forum as a whole is amused that this is essentially an in-house battle. Gian is not claiming he's a Catholic in good standing. You are. There's a difference.

        • Either he lied before or the 'unnamed' source is lying now. I don't believe unattributed quotes - ever. Much mischief comes from them.
So just confirming... you are calling Benedict or the high priests of the Catholic Church liars... simply because it doesn't match your view of things.
Once again, in Benland he knows better than the leaders of the Catholic Church. WOW!

And yet again, he is proving that HIS CONCEPT of religious freedom is that everybody else must believe in his religion and can't believe in their own.
A simple fact, if you stop believing in Catholic Teachings, and start believing in something else, you are no longer a Catholic. Sure, Catholics might think once a Catholic, always a Catholic, but that means absolutely nothing to somebody who has the right to have their own beliefs. And what's really funny is this silly POV is coming from somebody who changed religions...

And please show me in what Benedict said when he resigned that makes the second statement attributed to him a lie either way.
Nowhere in his statement did he deny God's involvement in his decision. Yes, he said it was about his age and health, but he didn't say anything either way about God directing him. Try again.

          • Inquisition resulted in far many more deaths than that make believe number.

And you are deluded as well... From looking at the posts, it looks like nobody here agrees with you and are all amused and laughing at you, or simply see you as what you are. You are bigot, and most posters here know that based on what you post.

              • The only reason I'm in good standings is because the church like the money I give them so the priests humor me.
It has nothing to do with my moral fiber. A major part of the church's history.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

As near as I can tell, the source for the statement comes from an unattributed person claiming that Benedict said that to him.

Again - by the rules of sourcing, I have to go with the direct, attributed source of Benedict.

if you stop believing in Catholic Teachings, and start believing in something else, you are no longer a Catholic
Your relationship with the church is different from someone who has never been Catholic.

this silly POV is coming from somebody who changed religions
Indeed. That is why I'm aware of these differences.

Nowhere in his statement did he deny God's involvement in his decision.
What reason was there to conceal, "I believe that God was calling on me to resign and that I had a 'mystical' experience prompting me to do so?" Many people, including me at the time, speculated that this might have been true.

I would love to believe that what Benedict is claimed to have said is true, but I'm very wary of the unattributed quote that is second-hand.

Really you have four people who are all Catholic arguing about the Catholic church. 3 people that see it as bunkum and go out of their way to point that out and one person who believes in the Church.

And? It doesn't mean I am a Catholic. I was forced into it. Now I am not. Get it now?

I am not a Catholic. I am agnostic. Period.

                          • The only thing that has changed is that modern society considers them only old enough to make one decision - have an abortion.
So, two states in the US constitute modern society in the US? 26 States require permission from a parent for a minor, 13 states require a parent to be notified before.
Your concept of "modern society" is limited to a small part of the US.

Yet again, BK thinks religious freedom only applies to Catholics.

And there is plenty of documentation showing Planned parenthood obviating those limits by altering ages of folks who come to their clinics, or obtaining judicial bypasses. Been shown through stings, where folks will call up PP, tell them that they are 12, 13 years old and want an abortion.
