So it's not the lack of gun control's fault after all? Shocking.

Teenagers commit a lot of petty crimes because they're stupid teenagers. They generally grow out of it eventually. Punishing them through the ordinary adult justice system would lead to a lot of career criminals.
Edit: You managed to edit your comment befor i answered - no, I don't think that teenagers should be treated more lenient because they are young. That is actually a pretty inane stance.Last edited by BlackCat; December 14, 2012, 20:04.With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

It's kind of funny that an american would state such a disregard to equality to the law. With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

It's the central point in the gun law debate - no gun starts its life as an illegal gun. If the population of legal guns were significantly lower, so too would it be for illegal guns.
Sure, this guy was clearly deranged and may well have done some damage in any case, but 27 people?
More generally it's far, far easier to kill or maim someone in a moment of rage if there's a gun near to hand than it is otherwise.
In summary, yes, sometimes personal freedoms need to be curtailed for the greater good. Is this not, in essence, the basis of all legal and regulatory systems? Would the human species be more successful if we all operated autonomously?
