Don't be an idiot. I know many gun owners. Virtually none of them feel the "need" to own a gun, for them, it's simply a hobby to go hunting or target shooting. It has nothing to do with a desire for violence or the bravado associated with having a firearm. It's just about simply enjoying a sport.
