Yes, it's true that most women would be at a disadvantage, but have you done any martial arts at all KH? It really changes your perspective on what you are capable of. I'm not very big or strong (a bit under 140) and at 5'5'' I'm not going to be making anybody scared. I can see the logic and rationale for not having women in the firehall or in combat, but I can see why they are an essential part of a police force.

As for the restraints, your mom needs to practice more Jon. When I did judo the right restraints were extremely difficult to break.

I used to have to fight 170-180 guys. You are faster than them so it helps. I'm not a black belt so my technique is far from ideal, but it can be done.

Toughest cop I ever saw was a female NYC police sergeant at the command post @ the Javits Center on the Friday night after September 11th, 2001. She got up in the faces of the city, state and federal emergency management reps who were all fighting about who had jurisdiction and what not. She kicked them out of the police trailer with a bevy of swear words and told them she wasn't taking orders from any of them. She was also a pretty brunette Italian, so had I been straight, I think I would have been in love.
