Yes, there are (Kay Bailey Hutchinson immediately comes to mind), but Palin is far more of a reformer and willing to take on the entrenched Republican machines than Hutchinson has been... Palin is better for that narrative. It appears McCain is going to go away from the 'experience' narrative and more towards the governmental reform by conservatives narrative.

Sorry, 1 1/2 years isn't enough to develop a record for reform. Reforms take time to work, and years to evaluate.

Backing an insurgent in the Republican primary instead of a firmly entrenched by dirty pol, IMO, speaks volumes. She also has an anti-lobbyist thing going (they aren't allowed in her office and whatnot) and works well with Democrats.
