A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

    • Ben should just **** off with all of his half-baked masturbatory praises for her and just admit he only likes her because she's a MILF and he's successully repressed, and she's also very anti-abortion and probably thinks the earth is still flat.

        • The president also serves as commander-in-chief. You'd have to be stupid to not see the advantage of having someone who served in the military in this capacity... he has a better understanding of how the military works, understands the capabilities and limits of the military, can relate to the troops on the ground, etc.

Military experience alone is not sufficient for a president but that, along with domestic experience, helps to make a good president.

But where? He doesn't really seem to know much about anything despite having been in office virtually forever.

Maybe, maybe not all those things. Unless he was a fairly high-ranking officer fairly recently the advantages other than relating to the troops may not apply. On the other hand if he was an officer for a long time, I could see how he might have trouble relating to the regular guys. Ok, I conceed it might be helpful, but it's not really a sine qua non or a substitute for good judgement.

I'd have preferred Pawlenty over her. She wasn't my top candidate. My top pick was Fred Thompson and he ain't much to look at.

That being said, I am pleased and I think she's an awesome pick, and yes she is attractive. I do like her more for her positions and not her profile, prolife or not.

                    *sighs*

Barack Obama has served on the Senate committees for Foreign Relations, Veterans' Affairs, and Homeland Security. He chaired the Senate's sub-committee on European Affairs. All of these committees deal with issues important to the military. In his capacity on these committees, he has taken official trips to pretty much every corner of the globe.

And that doesn't include the bills Obama's sponsored that address issues related to the military and veterans affairs, or Joe Biden's decades of sitting on the Foreign Relations committee.

Sarah Palin's sole connection to the military is that her son will soon be deployed to Iraq in an infantry brigade.

Seriously, Ben, the more grandiose statements you make, the stupider you look.

He went to the Naval Academy in 1954 (god that was a long time ago! My mother wasn't born yet!) and served until 1981, retiring with the rank of Captain (remember, a Navy Captain is an O-6, equivalent to a Colonel in the other branches) after 27 years in the military.

                          • Keith Olberman is passing this off as news... that Palin called Hilary Clinton a whiner.

Does anyone here think this is whining?

F-ing Olberman already getting the Democratic spin machine working and he's supposed to be a newscaster!

I'm going to pretend that you're not making fun of Olberman given the Rush Limbaughs and Bill O'Reillys and the entire ****ing Fox News network is doing your bidding...

And he's not a newscaster, he's a talking head. Put away your spin machine when complaining about others' spin machines...

PS: Your link is to a "Ben Smith"'s blog, not Olberman?
