Then it gets interesting. Especially if she can win those states by double digits as the polls are currently showing for her now.

I'd imagine at that point Dean tries to broker a deal between Clinton and Obama. Who knows how that'll turn out.

    • Unless she wins by a large amount in those three states (well, a large amount combined), she won't have the non-SD lead anyway ... an 100+ delegate win would be very hard to imagine, even in those three large states.

        • And who is helping to delivering them? Sounds a bit like that Jesus guy... helping the masses see the light and realize the change they can bring.

He's leading a renewed interest in the democratic process. Obama has appropriated the Dean theme of the people of taking the country back from entrenched interests favoring the rich by funding campaigns through small donations (and eventually public financing), drastically increasing voter turnout and waging a 50 state campaign, and good government process reforms. As I mentioned, it's community organizing (see Saul Alinisky as Boshko pointed out), writ large. It's basically the opposite of "cult-like" leadership.

          • You see opposite, I see indicative. You probably believed that the Marxist revolutions were the opposite of cultist leadership while they revered Marx like a God.

Saying its basically community organizing writ large is a bit silly. Unless community organizing usually creates such creepy "Yes, we can" chanting dittoheads.

Somewhat reminds me of Life of Brian and the "We're All Individuals" part.

Yeah, just the other day, I sacrificed a goat to teh Obama.

Honestly dude, your logic in this thread is pretty terrible...

Just about every single political campaign in human existence has tried to create a catchy slogan. Some are more successful than others.

Given that "Yes, we can" is about communal empowerment (and a direct appropriation of "si se puede"), that's got to be one of the most tenuous connections I've heard of...

I mean, anything you say about Obama having a cult of personality can certainly be applied just as easily to either of the Clintons. Hillary's robotitude just tends to make the worship services considerably more subdued.

Here's my current utterly pessimistic prediction -- deadlock into the convention. Obama wins the popular vote, but Hillary is the nominee due to dips*** superdelagates like that Rae kid from Wisconsin. All the goodwill garnered by the Dems is wasted, as people recognize that their primary vote didn't count, but those of smug, self important party hacks did. People (self included) check out and don't vote. 8 more years of Repubs.

Rant on my current pet topic:
I mean this Rae kid keeps repeating the line "my vote as a delegate is the same as the vote of any other delegate so I need to decide for myself who I think would be the best candidate". I've read/seen the interviews -- he can't seem to comprehend that those other delegates reflect the will of thousands of voters. He represents the will of one self-important douchebag kid.
The undeserving maintain power by promoting hysteria.

Only because you are smack dab in the Obama camp since Day 1. Others are seeing it, but are written off because they are seeing things wrong.

Let's be honest, if Obama loses this nomination, you think this "movement" lasts even a month after he leaves the race?

Just about every single political campaign in human existence has tried to create a catchy slogan. Some are more successful than others.

Of course they try. But if success to you means that you have mindless zombie dittoheads chant it at your rallies, then I wonder how you don't find that frightening.

At least McCainites chant "Jack is back" at handful of times and don't use it to signal "Amen" to the pronouncements of the candidate.

Given that "Yes, we can" is about communal empowerment (and a direct appropriation of "si se puede"), that's got to be one of the most tenuous connections I've heard of...

The connection is about the disconnect of what is being said and what is actually going on. "I am an individual" said all together is funny because they are acting communally. "Yes we can" is frightening (not playing for jokes) because it is for the exoneration of the prophet Obama.

His brain is addled by his irrational worship of the holy dualitiy of Billary.

More of the hatred of the cult of Obama the holy "change".

No, that's not why you're wrong.

Mathematically, she would still have to go to the convention.

However, a major hat trick like this could cause a stampede among the Superdelegates to Hillary's side, clinching the nomination for her.

                              • So Romney endorsed McCain today. What a happy Valentine.

                                That means...

McCain (827) + Romney (286) = Huckabee should get out of the race (1113)

Honestly, I'm thinking that McCain/Romney ticket is looking more and more viable for the GOP, while McCain/Huckabee is looking less and less feasible.

As for the Dems, I still think it would be better for Obama and Clinton if they teamed up.
