Talked to a friend today, and he told me that a Conservative majority would help the Reform base to push its agenda (and thus would alienate Quebec). That's another way to see the problem. Hopefully he's right.

That's a bit misleading. He was involved with the Reform party in the 1980s and ran for election, but lost. He was elected to Parliament in 1993.

So it's not like he came out of nowhere and achieved all you said in three years.

Harper is intelligent, as most Canadian political leaders are, but there is nothing that indicates an exceptional intelligence.

I can't say I've followed the campaign at all since Xmas, but this is the most retarded thing I've heard recently.

I don't see this privatisation as a bad thing, since it will mean efficient delivery of health care, as opposed to our current system.

So does anyone see any surprises with a week to go?

My opinion is that ther Liberals will rebound slightly in the final week ( assuming no one else gets scanadalized or indicted or whatever). This will be just enough to keep the Conservatives a good 10 seats from the majority.


While this is not what the Conservatives are hoping for right now, its still miles ahead of their projections just a month ago
