Whatever you want to spin it is fine . Elways always had better defenses than Peyton did. And I think getting intercepted how many ever times by the Patriots isn't something utterly horrible. After all, they basically raped the Indy recievers.
And Manning has a better offense than Elway did. Name another Broncos offensive player from the 80's.

Especially a running back. I know names because I had to watch them every week.

But I bet you can't name one without googling.

Oh and guess who's doing the spinning now. Boo Hoo they held us. How can they hold onto receiver and intercet the ball 4 times.

    ACK!

    • Nebraska's O and D lines were physically more powerful than Tennessee's. If he had won anyway, he would have achieved legendary status. I don't think losing in that case constitutes a choke.

      • Neither does losing to the 2003 Patriots. They were damn good.

Obviously, to win the Superbowl, you've gotta beat a damn good team. But it's the defense that needs to improve.

        • At least Elway could win when he had a world-class running back.

I'm sure that was the reason the Broncs won Superbowl XXXIII .

I can say that he chokes because he implodes when the pressure is on. TN-NE, anyone? IN-NE, last year?

Nebraska didn't exactly have a lay down defense.

          • Looking for Peyton's stats, I went to his official website

His stats haven't been updated since 2001!

            • At the time, Sammy Winder was pretty good. But, aside from Elway, the most famous players were on defense (like Mecklenberg).

              • Jag:

How about a shocker of an AFC championship game between the Chargers and Indy.

                Wouldn't that be a hoot?

Chargers top Denver in the wildcard, Indy stomps the Jets.

Then the Chargers beat Pittsburgh by stuffing the run, and Indy finally storms the Pats.

                • Keep dreaming - just don't bet the house on it.

                  • If Indianapolis or San Diego could make it to the Superbowl, they'd win. But they won't.

I'll grant that one of them can possibly make the AFC championship. But not both of them.

                    • I do predict Indy will beat the Pats in the playoffs. 4th time is a charm.

                            • BTW, what happens with the seeding if a wildcard team has a better record than a division winner? It's gonna happen with the NFC this year. Seahawks don't deserve to be in the playoffs, but because their division is so incredibly bad, they will.

                              • And his victories over Denver and KC in the playoffs count for nothing?
It took him four tries before he could win a single playoff game. He then won two... and then blew chunks in the big game.

He might win a Super Bowl... but he'll lose one first. I guarantee it.
