    SP,

If bananas move their galley in the most direct manner, they could be past our front-line city (the one with rabbit units around it) and next to the unclaimed land between us and rabbits in four turns.

If you want to send a workboat or any boat to meet banana through Templars waters you don't need PAL permission. You pass through Templars, jump from one continent to the other and head south ... and you wouldn't be passing through our cultural borders at any point. Our territory is not that big!

    • If this is true, its excellent news.
That means that the fish tiles at our southeastern corner are actually used by Banana not PAL. OUr scouting chariot (Lady Godiva) should be able to see Bananas borders from our lands.
As a plan B our warrior should move east of Heliopolis to greet the Banana boat.

        • I emailed PAL to thank them for the info.

          • One thing that has happened is the 3rd ring border pop of Heliopolis, denying us access to that coast to their east, probably putting the estimated time to meet Bananas boat up by ~3turns.
Let's ask PAL if we can still hang out on that promontory. After all, we've already scouted this land before the border pop.

            • email from PAL to Banana ... ? ... sent to us by mistake?

              Banana,

Realms wants to meet banana. I want you guys to meet, too. Realms has a warrior around our northeastern border, in the no-man's-land where rabbits have units. While we're at war, we are reluctant to let any other team run a land unit through our territory, but I am trying to facilitate the meeting of your two civs. This is what I told Realms yesterday:

"If bananas move their galley in the most direct manner, they could be past our front-line city (the one with rabbit units around it) and next to the unclaimed land between us and rabbits in four turns.

I figured that if you avoid hugging the arc of our coastline the whole way around you can actually get into neutral territory in (now) 3 turns (4 last night, I don't think your galley had moved yet. I can't log in to game atm.) I couldn't see the realms warrior from our lands last turn but he can't be far.

Either that or you guys can meet on the west coast with realms boat and the banana sword or something.

Once I can see a realms unit I can help direct you guys to meet ASAP.

Edit: Not a mistake - we were CC'd.

              • Very nice of them. It reads to me they are actually ok for our galley to pass through the channel.

                • No, I don't think it does: I think they're referring to the WB coming via Templars waters.

                  • So, are we going to put an ivory trade on the table this turn? Our capital is unhappy.

                    • They have not replied to our last offers:

                      Marble - Ivory&Gems
                      Wine - Ivory

imo. we should pick the one we prefer and then offer it to them in-game.

Since we want more happiness sooner, I'd say offer the Marble deal and send them a message saying it's a 10turn deal and we'll renegotiate after that.

                      • Yes, we need ivory THIS turn. I would send something like this:

PAL, we would like to request that you send us the ivory resource we agreed upon earlier. We will gift you our wines as soon as we connect our second source, which should be ~4 turns. We'll each be gifting each other a resource, so essentially doing an ivory for wines trade. We need ivory this turn (T110), however, in order to keep our cities happy; we incorporated your offer of ivory into our city planning.

                        Thanks greatly,
                        RB

Or whatever, I don't care about the wording. Just make sure to send off some kind of message to this effect rather soon, so they can get back to us and offer us ivory before the turn ends.

We can work out a marble deal down the road. This can't wait.

                        • Reminder sent. They're usually quite quick to respond, so I won't push them until later today/tomorrow depending on their feedback/turn situation.

                          Hi PAL,

We didn't get feedback on this. Maybe it got lost amongst all the other things we have going on at the moment...

'One option would be for RB to trade you Marble now in exchange for Ivory and your extra Gems (so a strategic resources for two happiness resources), and then give you a spare Wine as soon as we have it hooked up (in just a few turns).'

                          Let us know your thoughts.

                          Cheers,

                          Swiss

                          • Was that the message sent, Swiss? The context is totally different; it's no longer "hey, we need ivory immediately!" but "what do you think of this proposed deal?"

Again, I don't really care what we work out, just so long as we get ivory before the turn is over.

                            • @Sullla: as I wrote, the email sent was a gentle reminder as there was plenty of time left on the turn for them to reply. Seeing as the game is off-line, here's my proposal for a chase up message. I've changed your wording to sound less needy, as I fear they would come back demanding Marble if we seem desperate.

PAL, seeing as you're not keen/haven't given feeback (DELETE as appropriate) on the marble deal, we would like to request that you send us this turn (T110) the ivory resource as promised. We will gift you our wines as soon as we connect our second source, which should be ~4 turns (the mapmaker put them under a forest for some reason). We'll each be gifting each other a resource, so essentially doing an ivory for wines trade. We trust this even trade is acceptable for you.
Personally, I'd wait until tomorrow to send it out, unless they respond negatively tonight.

                              • That's cleverly done, Swiss. This is why you're in charge of diplo and not me. In any case, the game being down works to our favor at the moment, and I'm fine with your suggestion on how to play this out.

Just get me my ivory before end of turn!
