    Hi Cres,

We proposed Marble for Ivory in-game yesterday, but you still haven't accepted the deal!

Can you please do so before the end of the turn.

    Cheers,

    Swiss
I have a feelingwe may end up starting T110 over again on Monday or Tuesday, given the posts in the connection thread...

    • Hmm, I logged into the game and now PAL only have 1 ivory for trade yet we still have 2 marble. Maybe they got their spare source pillaged or they traded it? Anyway, I offered the deal again.

        Thanks SP,

I offered the deal again just now. It didn't pop up when I joined (as if it had been proposed in-game).

woo hoo! My wife publishes her first book. Buy it now in paperback format at lulu and help me retire so I can write more BUG mod code.

          Swiss,

I guess what happened with your first offer was that the turn player saw it was off because rabbits had pillaged one ivory. I am not sure what happens when we resume but they could continue pillaging ivory if they want.

Hmmmmm...doesn't sound promising for our chances of keeping the Ivory trade going even if PAL does trade us their only remaining Ivory.

          • PAL does have an excess gems we could trade for. However, I think we absolutely can and should throw a fit if they refuse to make the same deal on a reload of a turn, which was reloaded because of their own stupidity in the first place!

If they say no, I'll see about sending a PM to Krill and informing him of the situation. Replaying a turn should mean REPLAYING the turn, not changing whatever the hell you feel like because you have second thoughts later.

            • I agree with Sullla. If they cannot secure their ivory resources properly, that's their problem.

And now for something completely different:
Should we sound out Rabbits and PAL to come to a peace agreement, brokered by us?
That will secure our trades with PAL, will ensure Rabbits survive (which is surely in our interest) and will give us a good reputation.

              Comments?

              • The problem is that if we upset PAL by insisting they reconfirm the deal, even though they have no ivory for themselves, then they would be in their rights to stop the deal after 10 turns. We need to keep PAL on our side in order for them to keep supplying ivory when we have the techs to build elephants. I think we could sort out a gems deal for now until we have the techs for elephants.

                • However, the ivory may not get pillaged this time because I presume the rabbits will move first. Things could end up very differently.

                  • We'll have to se how it goes, but I think Rabbits, realising thy're completely scr00d, have changed tack and intend to cause PAL max inconvenience before they go down. This means they'll pillage as much Ivory as they can. No idea how the game decides which trade to break though...

I don't see PAL having any interest in peace, seeing as they have a huge military advantage at this point.

I favour this approach, as we need to keep banking credits with PAL while we can (and so long as we don't suffer as a result). I suggest we agree the Ivory-Marble and Gems-Wines trades, and that PAL can decide the order, but one must start on T110, and the other on T115 (assuming the 2nd wines are online by this point).

                        • They had a huge advantage before and failed to finish them off.
Out of character they are pissing everybody off with their play style, forcing reloads and endless debates.
In character they are annoying teams (like us) with unstable exploration (no scouting during wartime) and trade (disconnected resources) conditions.

I think its worth a shot. If PAL secures access to the complete north of their continent they have won.
Btw. Is settling there ourselves completely off the table?

No, they simply surprised Rabbits with their attack. In individual unit terms, they were equally matched which is why they stuttered. Now they have maces, which will chew up anything Rabbits can field.

I'm sure PAL knows this, too, which is why they're making nice with (their pet) Banana, and why peace with Rabbits is impossible.

I'd like to, if at all possible, but it's a tough call for all manner of reasons.

                            • We should make clear to PAL that we intend to have marble for ivory, and wines for gems, deals in place with them. I would rather not have to do marble for wines initially, but if they absolutely refuse to budge on this, we may have to. One way or another, we insist that the two deals go together. No marble for gems unless we can trade wines for ivory shortly thereafter.

mh, we could make an effort to mediate peace between PAL and Rabbits, but I cannot see why they would accept. They are going to crush the Rabbits as soon as their monster army moves to the east. We could always try floating the idea and see what they say, of course.

We could probably get a settler to the silver spot on the eastern continent if we really made an effort. The RBS Discovery (galley) will sit in the Channel for the forseeable future, and Something Fishy will make a good candidate for producing a settler. *IF* (and I repeat, if) we can get some kind of NAP in place with Imperio and Templars, then we can consider going for it. Otherwise, no. Have to defend what we have first.

I like the imagination though. None of the other teams would expect it!

                              • If we demand that PAL redo the deal, they could just cancel it 10 turns later and leave us without Ivory when we really need it. We should complain to them hard if they refuse, but I wouldn't get Krill involved.
