Sounds good Sullla. And remember all, these are just vague notions of "fairness" when it comes to virtual goodwill points for the horses, jumbos, etc here. PAL can claim all they want that things are square, and we can point out how supplying us and our military rivals is hardly the same as giving them monopoly access to their UU resource, but it really just comes down to how much either team is willing to sacrifice to ensure good long-term relations.

If we are about to get into unhappiness, than we should accept the elephants as soon as they are offered and give back wines as soon as we can. I agree that concrete benefit is worth more than talk about potential "goodwill points". I just want to make sure we can still ask for emergency metal when our copper is disconnected.

What Zeviz said.
EDIT: So why don't we connect up the wines that are already roaded first? Should be done much, much sooner.
And if we plan to settle Burgundy any time soon, even better.

Realms Beyond,
I offered the ivory for marble deal in game.

woo hoo! My wife publishes her first book. Buy it now in paperback format at lulu and help me retire so I can write more BUG mod code.

Should we tell them that we've already offered Marble to another CIV, so we have to wait for their reply? (Our plan to offer Templars marble trade.)
A thought of PAL with marble is not very pleasant, but it would give us extra happiness right away if we want it.

Let me just reiterate one more time: trading our only wines for ivory doesn't work, because we need them both to keep our cities happy.Originally posted by Swiss Pauli View PostI'd be tempted to decline this deal and counterpropose Wines for Ivory. Until we get Construction, Ivory is merely a happiness resource.
As for PAL's offer, I think we should send them a quick email saying that we need to discuss it. We might also politely remind them that they are changing their offer to something we didn't agree on, which is bad form.
Alternately, we could counter-offer by saving that we'll trade them marble for their extra gems (yes, they have 2 gems!) and then wines for ivory once we get a second source connected.

I think we need to push a deal through where we get to send a scout through their lands. It's really really important that we meet banana.
How about:
Marble is slightly less convenient for us, but we will be willing to trade marble for ivory with the proviso that we can send our scout through your lands to meet banana.
