@Swiss - Limited duration pact is fine. I didn't mean to give the impression Imperio was feinting, I do however think it's slightly conceivable that Imperio attacks PAL in the distance future if the opportunity presented itself.

I prefer a less specific agreement. Just having PAL declare on Imperio would be good for us, because it would help our diplomatic efforts. And the more precise an agreement we try for, the likelier it is that PAL will realize that they are in no danger from Imperio.Comment

Are we even sure that the war / peace thing will work? Would PAL be able to disconnect one of their gems?

Reload, everything else is messy, especially if we don't know for sure how it will work out.
At least it is something that both parties involved will instantly agree on, unlike the PAL-Rabbit f***up.

I don't seem to be very good with these drafts, but how about this one:

Just a couple of things. Firstly, what are you researching? We are planning to go for engineering soon, what could you offer for that?
Secondly, Imperio's position between our civs could be used for our joint advantage. If you are declared upon by them we could assist by harassing their other flank. We would like you to do the same if we are attacked. Of course, cancelling your supply of ivory to them would ease our worries ...

Further to Imperio's Bad Craziness, we'd like to propose mutual support pact in case of an Imperio DoW on either of us in the next 10-15 turns. We would include things like shipping techs on agreed deals up front, resource supply, short term cash loans from the team at peace to the team at war, etc.
We'd also be willing to consider active military support if you'd be prepared to do the same for us.
Let us know your thoughts.

As there's not really been enough opinion expressed on my last draft, I sent a filler email, as it's been a few days since their email to us:

We're discussing the idea of some kind of 'mutual support pact' in case Imperio declares on either of us in the short term. With the reload, it's been a bit quiet in our forums over the last few days, but we'll come back with a proposal once our ideas have taken shape.
