  • Does anyone know what the difference is between the cd and dvd versions of the game? Why would I want one over the other?

I have a dvd drive, so it can play either, but why would they make a dvd rom version if the cd version is usable by all?

    • Because 1 DVD is nicer than lots of cds, of course.

      • Apparently there is no "clean-up" of areas you have passed through, so the game is storing any objects left on the ground or traded to merchants etc...

        • Ouch. That's going to slow things down obscenely.

I do that all the time. But that´s no excuse to go and put yourself at risk letting games install whatever they want with no control from the player

I thought about it a bit more and realized that it couldn´t be since the game worked fine with no slowdowns or anything else, except that it wouldn´t let me save of course.

It's not the games that install there. They still reside in Program Files (by default) where they belong. It's just the place where they put their savegames and mod directory. Which is their data, comparable with documents or pictures.

Err, no, that should go in the games folders

                • My Docs/My Games/gamename is the proper place to store any user-specific game data. Not in My Docs/someotherdir, not in Program Files/publisher/gamename/saves, nor anywhere else.

                  • Besides, you should be able to fix your perceived problem easily. In the program folder is a nwn.ini file. If you edit the HD0 setting from .\ how it defaults, to C:\Program Files\Atari\ (you might have to use quotation marks), the game data goes in the folder you wish.

EDIT: It doesn't work for some reasons. May be a bug. I suppose it's the blank in the name. Quotation marks don't help. I have no time to further investigate it. I'll try a directory without a space this evening.

I disagree. I´m the only user in this computer I don´t need that and I hate the My games directory too by the way, I want the gamefiles to stay in the game folder I selected for installation not what someone else thinks is best for my system, that´s not too much to ask isn´t it?
                      Unfortunately that won´t change

I do agree about this though

It´s ok, I´ll uninstall the game and wait for more patches etc, I´ll be too busy to play anyway.

                      • I personally like the my docs method. That way I can uninstall the game and keep my saves in there in case I want to go back and play again.
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

If you want to change where those are stored you can redirect My Docs to a different folder (and, I believe, My Games). IIRC you don't even have to go into the registry.

And the reason this is how things should work is because it makes the system more secure when programs obey these conventions, and it doesn't break down when you get a multi-user system.

How is NWN2 with the new patch?

                            • The interface hasn't changed a bit; you best chance with it is get used to it. There are still crashes (save often, and not only quick-save!), especially while zoning. And I keep having problems with one module: After I left that area, the game doesn't let me back there, even though that's not intended (infinite look while loading).

Overall it's playable. No less, no more. It's still far from being fun. The OC is actually pretty good, even though that's in the eye of the beholder. But me likes.
