It runs pretty smooth patched. Almost a pleasure. Of course I learnt in the past week a bit how to deal with the interface.

The game isn't out here in Australia until Wednesday, but after a tour of various forums I cancelled my pre-order. I'm going to leave this one until the first x-pax is released. There's no game in The Sims. It's not a game. It's like watching a tank of goldfishes and feed them occasionally. - Urban Ranger

I installed the latest patch, played for a while and then after many saves that worked fine suddenly the game complained that there wasn´t enough space, since I tend to use the quicksave and not other savefiles I lost everything I did when the game cleared the directory to save the game
(autosave did the same but without the warning)
Did this happened to anyone else? Or is it some problem in my computer?
I had 800Mb free on My Documents folder...
Why is that all the recent games insist on putting their saves and other files in My Documents? Civ4, Company of Heroes, etc do the same too, it´s annoying!

I'm having problems with reloading saved games at times and am forced to replay from a former save. The saves are obscenely big, too, all in all the saves for my game (I keep a save from every new zone) are about 1 GB already and I'm not even through chapter I.Originally posted by Unspeakable Horror

Because that's the only right thing to do. They're not right in place in the "Program Files" directory, because it may be mounted read/only for security reasons. And you are advised not to play with Administrator rights too, to override such settings. Also, there might be more than one user on this computer. "My documents" is the only folder that is guaranteed not read/only and solely belongs to the user logged in at the moment.Did this happened to anyone else? Or is it some problem in my computer?

No, it's rejecting DVD ROM drives too. All in all I had 4 different drives, and only one (from my work computer) worked. But only if connected to my work computer itself, when I connected it to my home machine, it didn't work either.Originally posted by nostromo
So if you have a DVD burner you're pretty much screwed, is that it?
This SecuROM is one of the worst pieces of ****, comes right after StarForce.

I understand the reasons but... I like to keep game related files in their own game folders in the main partition (and when I get a new HD, their own Drive) games are not something I care about much but my documents I DO care about, I don´t want anything strange heppening to them like that game that when uninstalled deleted all your C: drive content.Because that's the only right thing to do. It doesnt matter if something goes wrong with the main partition and I lose everything there, I can always reinstall windows and the games like nothing happened but I can´t get my documents back the same way, that´s why they have their own place. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. The size of the saves gradually increases with progressing game, because they contain more and more zones. So while the start save right after character creation is still 3MB, my newest one has already 37 MB. I wonder if we'll reach 100 MB per save, my bets are, we will.

And that's why everyone is advised to BACKUP HIS DATA, and REGULARLY. Programs always can be reinstalled. The restoration of data, however, is next to impossible.Originally posted by Unspeakable Horror
