I was going to buy it for MP capability but based on reviews etc I think I may well follow your suggestion, after the patch (if there is one!) anyway.

In the meantime I'm too busy being amazed at how Nightfall has somehow managed to raise the GW bar once more.

there appears to be a fix for the 5.1 sound bug. They are missing a line in the .ini file!! A glaring oversight if you ask me. Not to mention no cleave animation.

So I put the line in, but haven't had a chance to play since then. Hopefully I can get 5.1 sound now.

You should try it again. You might find you like a game which rewards creativity and skill over willingness to grind for months on end to be powerful.

          Unless............

Tempted, but alas, no time. Too many things I'm already involved in. I rather do few things right than many things a little.

Funny, i'm so starved for a Baldur's Gate/DND type RPG (yes I know there are differences) that I want to turn a blind eye and buy it!!

but i am resisting until i can do more research....
While there might be a physics engine that applies to the jugs, I doubt that an entire engine was written specifically for the funbags. - Cyclotron - debating the pressing issue of boobies in games.

oh, and only because there are a few games i want right now, but $50 a pop means selective choices...

I continue to tout the value of demos! at least to see if I can run a game at a decent clip.

I'm at a point where it's impossible to play farther. One module does not load (you wait infinitely while it's unpacking). Module don't load, patch don't work. Screw it, I'm done with this game, at least for now until a critical rebuild will be released (if ever).

                    • I saw on the bioware forums Obsidian are advertising direct links to the patches so you don't have to use the patching tool. Or have you tried that and it still doesn't work?

                      • Searched for half an hour, but did not find.

All I found was an installer for the patcher itself (don't need that) and links to .zip files of the patch, which however still need to be passed through the patcher and hence, don't work.

If you found an installer, can you link it please?

                        • I fixed it finally. After trying it on my 2 drives (DVD ROM, DVD RW) and flashing new firmware into them, I tried my wives DVD ROM and finally my DVD ROM from my work computer. It didn't work in my computer, but it worked in the work computer itself, the HDD of which I then connected to my computer, copied the installation, fixed the registry and , it works.

People, if you don't want to bother this stuff, DON'T BUY IT YET! Wait a few weeks until that is fixed. Very ugly stuff. And of course, it's SecuROM. Oerdin was right.

It may well have been the second of those. If the patch is available why would you have to pass it through the installer though? I thought these things were basically just automated ways of downloading and installing the patch for people too stupid to download a file, unzip, and run the .exe.

                            • It unpacks not to an .exe but to an .rtp file, which needs a commercial installer to extract (I didn't find a free replacement).
