That's why I said "in English." I just assumed the distinction was lost in translation.

      • In German, Minimum is a substantive and minimal the corresponding adjective. The meaning of the word is always "least", it implies "small", but doesn't mean it ("least" can be a big entity, if the others are yet bigger).

        • In English it's kind of vague. "Minimum specs" refers to the least specs you need to run the game, but in other contexts minimum can be used as you did.

Don't shoot me, I didn't invent the language.

          • I understand, the distinction is blurry and it is sometimes hard to tell out of the context, whether the substantive is meant, or the adjective. That's why we capitalize the former, even though I'm not exactly fond of that.

            • Grammatically, Ralph is entirely correct. Maybe it's just Spike's English then.

              • And if it were so, would it really surprise anyone?

                • My English is flawless in every way. In the context above 'minimum' was correct - it's tough but as Kuci said we don't make the rules.

And Ralph's English generally is of a good standard or I wouldn't have bothered correcting him.

                  • Game is MUCH smoother with the 1.03beta patch. I'm actually getting 20 fps on my barely-meets-minimum-reqs computer.

(and that's with some graphic options turned up, too)

                    • Bah. It doesn't install again for me. Piece of ****, this game, really.

                      • Could be user error.

                        • If it would be so, I wouldn't be playing right now. I installed and patched it without any problem on my wife's computer and copied it over the network. I can't patch it on my computer this way, but I always can patch it on my wife's and copy again. Shame one has to resort to such stunts. Hell knows what part of the installation process doesn't like what part of my computer. Oh well, "Atari - we have your money, you are now screwed". Hardly news. Of course I can always vent on their forums, which I eagerly do.

                            • I've now ordered $530 worth of new computer parts because of this game.

Seriously - I was due for an upgrade anyway.

Here you are. Of course I am lazy to look up everything I posted in 4 forums, but here's one from the "NWN2 - sour grapes" thread on Bioware:

                                Let's see...

                                1) The game does not install without numerous CRC errors
                                2) If I "ignore" the CRC errors and let it install nonetheless, I can play the extremely buggy and crashing 1.00 version, but not patch.
                                3) The game comes bundled with malware, called SecuRom.
                                4) To file complaints in the Atari support forms is as effective as shouting in the forest. There's not even an echo, let alone a fix.
                                5) To file complaints in the Atari support forums nets the same result.
                                6) Ergo, support for this game does not exist.
                                7) No retailer will take an opened game box back, let alone refund the money.
                                8) I am screwed because I fell again for Infogrames/Atari, after the utter disaster that was Civ3.
                                9) Please do me a favor and go bankrupt, Atari, so Take2 can get the NWN franchise. They did a damn good job with Civ4, with great support too. Vanish without a trace, and the world will be a better place.
                                10) While we're at it, hand the development back to Bioware, too.
                                11) Not only are the grapes extremely sour, but I'm upset enough to want to smear them in the hair of a certain elf.
                                12) Yes, I am making quite some trouble in the forums. Give me a game that installs and patches for a change, and you'll unlikely see me again, because I'll be playing.
The "certain elf" is the Atari mod Selene Moonsong, who on the Atari forums has the sig "Don't muss the Elf's hair". That's where remark #11 comes from.
