There is no such thing. The actual quote means something along the lines of 'the exeption that breaks the law.'

      It's been sillily misquoted, though.

      • I wasn't quoting anyone. I was (correctly) using a phrase in common useage, the meaning of which is clear to all.

Issues that persist today are probably down to low end systems not coping, individuals not updating drivers etc, or not patching to the most recent version of Civ. No doubt there are exceptions which prove the rule.
actually someone else had this problem. It was due to updating to the newest driver. I actually have to go back to an old driver I believe.

I only updated to the newest driver in an attempt to play NWN2.

            • Ok - with my newly upgraded computer the game is running real smooth. Now if I could figure out how to kill a certain dragon...

Speaking of which, it's nice to see dragons have actually been massively beefed up. I always cut right through them in prior games (NWN, BG2, etc.) but now I'm getting my entire party wiped out in just a few rounds. Ouch. Guess I need to concentrate a little more on tactics...

              • The OC of this game is so buggy, that it is almost unplayable. In act 2 in a certain crypt, I had a scripted event firing (one of these annoying cutscenes), followed by combat. That alone is nothing bad, but the cutscene fired again and again and again, on every step either I or one of my henchmen (there were as many as nine others in my party) made during this combat, that goddamn cutscene fired. It lasted at least 10 seconds everytime, even if I clicked fast, while the battle continued in the background without control. Needless to say, this battle was practically unwinnable. I solved it by telling everyone to stand ground, and killing the boss and 2 minions with arrows, so I didn't have to move. Succeeded only on the third or fourth try, close call too.

By the way, the game comes with a funny swearfilter. On the Atari boards somebody complained, that he can't name his character "Shanal", because that gets replaced with "lol" due to the last four letters. And "cvnt" gets replaced with "lady". If one wants to get rid of it, there's a swearfilter.2da in the data zipfile, which unpacked, edited and placed in override can manipulate or even stop the filtering entirely.

Clearly, restricting and patronizing customers has priority over testing, debugging and support.

                • Now I know why the game offered me "lol" as first name. The game itself randomly generated the name it censored.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

Ok - I know exactly where you mean. Something weird happened to me in that same spot; my character kept getting teleported back down the hall every time I approached the door. Finally the cut scene fired, and then everything was fine - it only triggered once.

I'm well into the third act, and that's probably one of the most noticable bugs I've encountered. You're obviously having a somewhat different experience with the game than I am.

You should have waited for the patches like me. Unless they don't patch all these bugs and then you shouldn't have bought it.

That's totally lame for the SP campaign. Naturally MP servers would retain the right to stop you creating characters with offensive names if they wanted.

Yes, but I wanted to be finished with it on the day when MMOs will be saved.

Yeah you'll need all your spare time to keep up with the horrible grind.

                              • Played another weekend. I'm now well in chapter III. No new gamebreaking bugs encountered, at the countrary, even the longest cutscene chains went without crashing. My anger got slightly less because of this too, full two days and not one troll posted in the Atari forums.
