Maybe Ben is reading too much of this:
Doug Flutie was born in 316 BC in Atlantis and was the only son of Cleopatra and God so you know that he's X-treme to the max. Raised by Mongol warriors on the Russian steppes, Flutie honed his skills in horseback archery and precision passing, and it was rumored that he could throw a football while riding at a full gallop and have it explode someone's head accurately from sixty yards away. Despite being only five feet nine inches tall and weighing about one hundred and twenty pounds, Flutie was an expert at slaying Hydras and eluding the stomping feet of pissed-off Storm Giants while taming wild boars, bench pressing well over four times his body weight and performing complex mathematical equations without the use of a calculator.
During his youth, Flutie decided that it was his station in life to become the greatest quarterback to ever live, and he set about not only revolutionizing the entire sport of football but also changing the face of the world and the forever altering the socioeconomic dynamic of our great nation. Join me now in celebrating the timeline of Flutie History."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

Apparently Flutie founded America when he was in Philly playing my alma mater
July 4th, 1776:
Flutie happens upon a convention while in Philadelphia for a game against the Temple Owls and finds that the colonial revolutionaries are trying to develop a document indicating their desire to secede from the United Kingdom. The Continental Congress is on the verge of giving up when Flutie inspires them with a rousing speech urging them to "Never Give Up", "Push It to the Limit" and "Score a Touchdown for Democracy". The First Continental Congress invites Flutie to assist in their discussions and the Declaration of Independence is the result of his hard work, managerial skills and expert leadership.
July 2, 1862:
After winning his fifth world title while playing for Natick High, Flutie discovers that the Southern United States have seceded and revolution has fomented in the nation that he had worked so hard to build. Flutie rushes to the call of his country and at the Battle of Gettysburg he leads his troops to victory on the summit of Little Round Top. Flutie later recommends to President Lincoln that he give some sort of address to the troops after the battle. The "four score" in "four score and seven years ago"? Obviously a reference to Flutie's four TD performance against Temple back in '76

He also had 5 games with 60+ percent pass completion percentage.
What killed him are the three very bad games. When he was good, he was very very good, and when he was bad, he was horrid. That's what happens with a first year starter. You can either develop them, or dump them, and that's what happened with the Pats. He's the greatest we ever had up here, so you have to admit that the talent was there, just the Bears, Pats and Rams failed to develop him.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

**** the wins. We're looking at his stats! Explain especially the miserable Y/A, a supposed strongpoint of Flutie's
Where am I getting my information? 10 years of watching football in the CFL. Seeing him win 3 Grey cups and 3 MVPs. Seeing him voted as the greatest to ever lace it up here, and that includes Warren Moon, btw. Seeing him leave at 38, for the same reason that Khan weeped, "for there were no more worlds to conquer".Last edited by Ben Kenobi; September 9, 2010, 02:03.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Jeff Garcia came in and in his 2nd start for the Stampeders set a team record 546 passing yards and 6 TD's in one game! Garcia took over from then on and Flutie went to Toronto.
Flutie couldn't even keep a starting job in the CFL!
As for Garcia...
After Flutie signed as a free-agent with the Toronto Argonauts in 1996, Garcia took over as the Stampeders' starting quarterback. During Garcia's three years as starter, the Stampeders finished with records of 13-5, 10-8, and 12-6.[1]
In 1997, Garcia won the Jeff Nicklin Memorial Trophy, an award given to the Most Outstanding Player in the CFL Western Division. Garcia led the Stampeders to the Western Final in 1996 and to the Western Semi-Final in 1997. In 1998, he led the team to a Grey Cup victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and was named Grey Cup MVP. Garcia's performance included an 80-yard, game-ending drive to set up the game winning field goal on the last play of the game.[2] Garcia was also named as the 1998 CFL All-Star at quarterback.
Garcia catapulted from this success into a backup role on the 49ers and eventually wound up as a pretty solid QB. Why couldn't Flutie do the same?
Oh yeah, because Jeff Garcia was better than Doug Flutie even in the CFL!
Interesting... I had no idea that Doug Flutie got shown up by his backup in the CFL! I mean to have your backup come out and break a team record in his second career start! Got to make you wonder just what the hell was Doug Flutie doing all those years?Last edited by Al B. Bull****. If Flutie was so good, why was it that he got beat out of his job by Jeff Garcia?

Flutie was voted in 2005 as the greatest to play the game up here. That included folks like Moon, who you might have heard. Garcia didn't even merit a footnote.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Of course Moon and Garcia aren't the greatest CFL players! As soon as they could, they got the hell out of there and went to the NFL!
Garcia gladly gave up a starting job with two championship wins on the Stampeders to be a backup on the 49ers!

Flutie was rewarded with a reported million-dollar salary with the Calgary Stampeders.

Garcia was/is a much better NFL QB than Flutie. It's not even comparable. Garcia was a 4x Pro Bowler.
How big a stretch is it to go from a 4x pro bowler to the 6x pro bowler? Not very.Last edited by Ben Kenobi; September 9, 2010, 02:23.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Umm... one, he wasn't a 4x Pro Bowler til AFTER the CFL... two, he wasn't a backup for long, he quickly took the starting job from Flutie as soon as the Stampeders realized what they had on the bench compared to Flutie... three, in his second career start in the CFL, he passed for 546 yards and 6 TD's, shattering team records and clearly outshining Flutie

Okay maybe we need to take a step back...
You claimed that Flutie was the 3rd greatest QB of his generation, ahead of guys like Jim Kelly and John Elway.
Explain. What makes Flutie so good, especially compared to Kelly and Elway?
No playing games. No ignoring when I respond to you. Tell me right now, succinctly, what makes him so good and provide evidence."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi
