The worst QB on that list was Randall Cunningham... and Randall Cunningham was a 4x Pro Bowler who led the 1998 Vikings to score then-record 556 points. Week 3 of that season, Cunningham threw for 442 yards and 4 TDs. That single game trumps just about anything Doug Flutie did in his entire career. And Cunningham was the worst of that group! I'm not even going to say anything about Elway, Kelly, or even Boomer.

Sigh. Let's go back again. You were asking why his passer rating in that one year was so poor. I went into some of those lines, and found that he had a very high yards per attempt.

Except that you based your claim on pretty much the only game of that one year where he had very high yards per attempt, not to mention touchdowns. How dishonest can you be? (NB: that was a question, not a challenge.)

I can't even wrap my head around it. Is there something to Doug Flutie that I missed? I know him as the diminutive backup QB who stuck around so long just because the fans loved an underdog. Oh and he did a dropkick field goal. I always considered him as having the talent level of an AJ Feeley but with more starts... maybe a Jeff Blake or Charlie Batch, but both those guys had consistent starting work, something which Flutie can't say.

Terrible suckitude is bolded. As you can see, over 10 games, he had 5 atrocious games. I've never seen a QB in the modern era have so many 30% completion games or so many games with less than 100 yards passing. This is like some Jemarcus Russell, Derek Anderson last year, type of statistics.

In those 5 terrible games, Flutie had 420 yards (84 yards per game!), threw 7 picks, 3 TD's, and averaged a miserable 4.51 yards per attempt as well as a 41.3% completion %.

Also, his average Y/A for the season was a mere 6.42 yards per attempt. For comparison's sake, that year's MVP, Boomer Esiason averaged 9.2 yards per attempt.
