Again, chemically it's impossible for EVs to be cheaper than automobiles. It has to do with energy density. As for Mr. Fusion - it's a matter of confinement. It's entirely possible to build small fusion reactors- we just don't know how to do them today. Theoretically, there's nothing stopping fusion from being small.

Not to forget that AFAIK also the US subsidizes Hybrids (as well as full EVs) and therefore for the individual owner there may be good financial reasons to get an EV or hybrid (especially if is is used predominately for short distances, like many cars in the US)

The reason they are subsidized is because the market has already decided that EVs suck. Why would I want to drive something that sucks, when I can drive something that actually has demand for it.

You need to read a little more carefully. It's there. If you want a range comparable to a dinky little used Honda, you have to go at 25 mph. And that's in Australia where it is hot. In cold weather conditions, I'm betting that your battery life would be less than half that.

Also, charge times are 5,6 hours. Ain't nobody got time for dat.

That's, also not mentioning the life and replacement time of the battery (which is 40k all by itself), and the price?
