Curious comment. You are aware that this was the position of Ebeneezer Scrooge? "Reduce the surplus population?" People are not just 'useless mouths'. Far from it. You won't eliminate poverty by eliminating the poor.Ben is doing his best to make sure the human population outstrips the Earth's resourcesScouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

If your speaking of an Hispanic parent from Honduras here illegally, giving birth to a child here because they have flown under the radar and now have a child, make Honduras a state of these United States then I could follow your argument, otherwise I am missing your point Ben?Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View Post14th Amendment to the US constitution. How else would you reconcile those born in territories not originally part of the United States? Should someone born in Texas in 1820 not be considered an American citizen, despite never moving and having lived in Texas for the last 45 years?
As for Texas they are a state and have been since 1845, led to a war with Mexico....or are you inferring we need to have a war with Mexico......some say we are...i.e. Fast and Furious.....Hi, I'm RAH and I'm a Benaholic.-rah

The point I am making is that birthright citizenship is part of why America did so well in the 19th century. If you were a peasant in Europe, you had no rights whatsoever, and your children would have no rights whatsoever. That did eventually change - but for many people, they had the opportunity in America for their children to become citizens. This is why you had the wave of immigrants in the latter half of the 19th and of the early portion of the 20th century. If your speaking of an Hispanic parent from Honduras here illegally, giving birth to a child here because they have flown under the radar and now have a child, make Honduras a state of these United States then I could follow your argument, otherwise I am missing your point Ben?
No, what I'm saying is that without birthright citizenship you have a lot of people that would be excluded from citizenship just because they were technically born outside of America. Shouldn't folks in the newly annexed Texas become American citizens right away? That's what the 14th did.As for Texas they are a state and have been since 1845, led to a war with Mexico....or are you inferring we need to have a war with Mexico......some say we are...i.e. Fast and Furious.....Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Just read this from the Bibs: http://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-37969112
US President-elect Donald Trump has said he will deport or jail up to three million illegal migrants initially.
Those targeted would be migrants with criminal records, such as gang members and drug dealers, he told US broadcaster CBS in an interview.
Dunno how legal this is...I mean "criminal record" would say to me they had some trouble with law, but paid the consequences already - now they could get jailed for "illegal" immigration now and legal trouble previously?Blah
