  • Okay, what can we realistically expect from a Trump presidency?

I am choosing to believe he is not nu-Hitler. What happens in the next 4 years?

(I don't have any answers, because a year and a half ago I would have simply laughed condescendingly for much too long at anyone who suggested Trump could win. Clearly, I am not capable of predicting the future. I'm reasonably confident the Sun will die in several billion years, and as far as I'm concerned it can't happen soon enough.)

Paralysis as I said in my thread.

The Democrats gained seats in Congress. And they will not play nice, nor should they. My question is in two years can we gain more, and make this man a single term President in 2020.

Congress is still Republican, and now the President is, and there's a vacancy on the Supreme Court. I don't see how that leads to paralysis, unless you're suggesting we all have aneurysms and lose voluntary muscle control.

They still are, but they lost seats. You need more than a simple majority to do a lot of things.

Really, he's almost a complete wild card. I'm almost totally confident that a good deal of his actions will involve funneling public money into his hands or his cronies'. And some of his rhetoric he might stand by; he might push to annul free-trade deals and reduce our involvement in the ME. Beyond that, hell, I don't know.

                Seriously:

He has to end campaign mode to do real politics. He might do some are extraordinary things (in whatever direction), but generally will cut down on the more outlandish stuff as already shown in his speech after he got the job. He might end up way more "establishment-like" because of the limits of the political system, and the pressure from real issues.

                Or not.

Sure he's already "big money" and "media elites". He just needs to add some "Washington" to be complete.

It will be interesting. Based on Trumps past, he may not be the Republican that many think he will be. With all the Republicans that sh*t all over him with public displays on how they were going to vote for Hillary, he may seek revenge against the party in general and do what ever he wants, and not what some of the more vocal Republicans want.
With his Ego, and not really being beholden to the party, it could get real interesting.

His acceptance speech last night was pretty laid back... and not one insult
                        We shall see.

I can only hope this will be the case since if it isn't, the country will be going to Hell

I hope he spends his time revenging on the GOP.
