You seem to have forgotten about Bill Clinton, who was impeached by the House and acquitted by the Senate. Nixon was going to be impeached, so bailed before it could happen.

Nixon impeachment proceedings are entirely speculative. We simply don't know and cannot say for certainty if he would or would not have been impeached. Even so, Nixon would have been just another contra-party presidency, where the president is not the party that controls congress. It's doubtful that Republicans would have swung over to kick Nixon out.

As for Clinton the 106th congress had a stronger Republican majority in the Senate against a democrat president. Again, it's not really applicable to Trump's situation.

The more he "fails" as president (by not fulfilling his promises, working against his clientele and doing things that only are useful for himself (and his own corporations)), the more likely it is, that his republicans will start a palace revolt and try to impeach him.

The only time that a party has attempted to impeach their own nominee is Johnson. And again, that doesn't really qualify as Johnson was a career democrat on a unity ticket who wasn't an election winner.

It's just wishful thinking.
