this is true, but the change point (also one which came out strongly in the brexit vote) is more along the lines of 'i am fed up with the way things are, so i shall vote for something, anything different'.Originally posted by Elok View Posthttp://theweek.com/articles/659087/e...t-about-future
Notes that neither candidate really has a particularly strong or bold vision for the future; the election is "let's turn back the clock on the economy" vs. "don't let him turn back the clock on social progress.""The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

Cockney, you are projecting the vote of the UK onto the US and that is quite inappropriate. For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

You can't assume that from a poll where most people say the country is "headed in the wrong direction".Originally posted by C0ckney View Postthis is true, but the change point (also one which came out strongly in the brexit vote) is more along the lines of 'i am fed up with the way things are, so i shall vote for something, anything different'.

I feel the country is headed in the wrong direction. He will just say I'm projecting again.Originally posted by giblets View PostYou can't assume that from a poll where most people say the country is "headed in the wrong direction".
Anyways...
Looks like those convictions could result in 20+ years behind bars. look, i try to avoid going down the rabbit hole with you these days, and this is a great example of why. you've taken my point, ignored its significance and replaced it with your own; then, you've taken my refusal to debate your point, which has very little to do with mine that it purports to contradict, as some kind of admission that your point is correct and that mine is not.Originally posted by Aeson View PostHas nothing to do with how many people want to change D president to R. I just thought it was an interesting issue highlighting the rampant corruption in the Republican party.Originally posted by giblets View PostThat has nothing to do with Trump. For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. You sat on this website and admitted you know little about the US or its politics. Now you are giving us generalizations and blanket statements.Originally posted by C0ckney View Postlook, i try to avoid going down the rabbit hole with you these days, and this is a great example of why. you've taken my point, ignored its significance and replaced it with your own; then, you've taken my refusal to debate your point, which has very little to do with mine that it purports to contradict, as some kind of admission that your point is correct and that mine is not.
Get it together. I am trying to be nicer these days. Your point is that because a majority of people think the country is headed in the wrong direction that it equates to more people wanting to change D president to R president.Originally posted by C0ckney View Postlook, i try to avoid going down the rabbit hole with you these days, and this is a great example of why. you've taken my point, ignored its significance and replaced it with your own; then, you've taken my refusal to debate your point, which has very little to do with mine that it purports to contradict, as some kind of admission that your point is correct and that mine is not.
It doesn't necessarily follow, and the actual presidential polls suggests more want to keep D than change to R. (close though)

well i think i can, but allow me to explain more clearly. clinton is the status quo candidate. trump is the change candidate, but, as i've said in many previous posts, he represents change that many people don't want. however, those who can't abide trump but still want change, as opposed to the status quo that clinton represents, have diverse other options, such as voting for a third party candidate or even refusing to vote for one who is close to their beliefs but offers no change.Originally posted by giblets View PostYou can't assume that from a poll where most people say the country is "headed in the wrong direction"."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

What many people who say they want change realize, is with Trump comes the whole package. The whole package being the Republican party. And the Republican party has seen its party registration drop off severely in a number of key states. This is why Hillary maintains an edge. Her ground team just needs to get democrats out and voting. For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night.
