There's something to this. There was a recent-ish article in . . . the New Yorker, was it? Can't recall. Anyway, it was an analysis of Trump voters' motivations, which concluded that a good part of it was simple rage at the endless contempt and condescension directed their way by liberal elites. In the exact same issue someone wrote a terribly clever satirical "the Pences visit Manhattan" piece, which basically served as a case study in dickish liberal condescension. The couple go to New York, for example, and can't think of anywhere better to eat than Red Lobster. If you can imagine. HARRRRRRRR.

thanks for posting the article. of course one expects that kind of contempt from imbeciles like gian, but the fact that a mainstay of liberal discourse is to write off almost half the population as inferior is very worrying. this constant delegitimising of people and their views will only lead to more anger and polarisation. as you said earlier in the thread, people who feel threatened and belittled aren't just going to die quietly. some at least are going to get organised to defend their interests and their way of life. indeed, if one wanted to increase white racial consciousness, to foster a white nationalist movement, there would be no better way than what many liberals are engaged in at present.

if i were being cynical, i might even say that this is a deliberate ploy to keep the bankrupt status quo going for a little longer, 'vote for the crook, not the fascist!', but it's more likely just liberal conceit and shortsightedness.

Nobody is "delegitimizing" anything. The majority will win out at the end of the day, in a majority minority country.

And it'll be all over for any sort of movement like Trumps from ever occurring ever again.

Their way of life? I'm sorry, but they need to learn this is a country where many people exist. If they can't ****ing handle that reality that other people are here trying to make a living too, that isn't my ****ing problem. Get the picture? This isn't their god damn country to own. There are other people here who may look different, but they are trying to make a living. Their own contempt is spawned by supreme ignorance and hatred by which is different.
