New York has a 25 cent can/bottle tax. It gets refunded if you recycle them at a certain location. I'm torn between denying them revenue and thwarting their scheme of forcing me to recycle. Ultimately, effort wins out and I just chuck everything in the trash dumpster.

If bags being reused were such a health hazard, what happened to previous generations ? They were all decimated or obliterated by epidemics of salmonella and e coli and clostridium and botulism.

There's more risk of getting salmonella from careless food storage and cross contamination in the home than there is from reusing clean plastic or non-plastic bags.

When the animal dies and decays the plastic is free again to repeat the deadly cycle....plastic bags are particularly problematic in the litter stream....They escape and float easily in air and water, travelling long distances.
