It makes perfect sense. Liberals are happy forcing everyone to pay rather than paying with their own money. This is why liberals abolish tips altogether. In this example, liberals are raising the overall price of groceries to subsidize their special bags.

They are forcing me to subsidize their 'special bags' by banning plastic ones through the concamitant price increase in the costs of groceries. In the same way that liberals want to ban tips altogether by raising the price for everyone.

Obviously the bags aren't free. Charging separately for them is still dumb. Take note of the fact that stores only do it out of regulatory pressure, even in the insanely competitive environment of retail where everyone operates on razor-thin margins.

How does this make any sense? Currently if anything you are subsidizing other peoples bag use. If a poor minority family on welfare go into the store and use many, many bags when they spend their food stamps, and you only use one or two, you are subsidizing their plastic bag habit. Come on now, tell us honestly how that makes you feel.

Yeah, bags here are given out free by the supermarket, so people like me who bring their own bags are subsidising the free bags for the bastards too lazy to bring their own.

It's dumb from the business' perspective, it increases transaction cost and convinces people to buy less to save on bags which are a minute portion of the operating expense.

Each of those plastic bags probably costs 1/1000th what your cloth reusable ones do and they can be used for all sorts of other things, like trash bag liners and suffocating people.

Charging per bag would be dumb. Giving a small discount to people who bring their own bags and don't use any plastic bags would probably work out fine.

I tutored on this basis from 2007 to about 2010. For four years. Still do from time to time now. Did ok.

I also worked as a delivery driver on straight commission prior to that. So yeah. Not a hypocrite here. Ultimately, a job comes down to what people are willing to pay you for your services. Forcing them to pay more is a bad way to run your business.

It's only the last three years that I've worked on a salary basis. After a decade without.

Or bag less, which leads to more breakage + spillage. It's one of those things that dumb managers think cutting will save them money. Taxing businesses for plastic bags is just your usual liberal feel-good recessive tax that hurts poor people buying groceries.
