That is not the dynamic in question. And if the hypothetical were actually such, then no, there is no difference between X group voting because of race and Y group voting because of race. It's racism on both counts.

The actual hypotheticals in question are:

a) whether it is different for blacks, who vote Democratic at very high rates, to vote for a black Democrat at 98%, than it would be if it were whites, who generally are split between D and R, voting for a white Republican 98%. (Hint to BK: yes, yes it would be.)

b) whether blacks showing relatively more support for Obama than for Hillary when compared to white voters means that that discrepancy is because of racism by black voters. (Hint to Reg: no, it's not evidence of that. Many other combinations of factors could explain the discrepancy just as well ... and common sense would suggest that it's actually due to a combination of many factors.)

Actually no it wouldn't be exactly the same, and the idea that it would be is to ignore hundreds of years of American history. When you keep a race of people in slavery and oppression then when they finally manage to have a member of that race capable of achieving the highest office in the land it is ridiculous to not expect a vast turnout for that candidate. Putting that down to 'racism' is nonsensical. Racism does not mean a willingness to show preference to a race under absolutely any circumstances, if it did it would be such a broad term as to be basically meaningless.

You can also safely assume that Obama received a large number of votes from whites who wanted to ensure America finally got a black president. Are they racist too for wanting to ensure a fair America where people of all races can aspire to any elected position in the land?

41 percent of whites voting for Obama is apparently more of an indication of white racism than 2 percent of black folks voting for Romney. To me that signifies that white people are 20x as likely to vote for someone not of their race as black folks.

Again, this is a racist sentiment in holding white people to one standard, and black people to a lesser standard. But, then, this would mean admitting that racism isn't the sole purview of white people.

The juxtaposition of your ranting about coming to remove superstition is hilarious when taken with your deification of the Catholic church ... which happens to be history's largest transgressor as far as "removing native superstition" is involved.

Like I said, it's the typical argument of white liberal americans that the Catholic church is an evil and that the Phillippines would be better off without it than with it. I can't support this prejudice.

Though there are lots of non-Catholic Filipinos, and regions where Catholic isn't the majority even. But I guess those parts of the Philippines just never had enough Spanish culture oppressed into them for your tastes.

1. Black people invaded and captured slaves, in Sardinia as late as the 18th century.

3. Ergo - black people enslaved white people.

Your argument is thusly:

1, In America, white people's ancestors engaged in slavery of black people.
2, People are responsible for what their ancestors did.
3, In North Africa, black people's ancestors engaged in slavery of white people.

If 2 is true, then black people are just as guilty for engaging in slavery as white people.

Facts are stubborn things. Slavery wasn't started by white people - but white people did end it. If black people hate slavery so much, why did they enslave each other?
