I don't. Sava - I was friends with you for quite awhile.

You were the one who chose to board the haterwagon. I said - quite pointedly then as now - that you were my friend first and foremost. Even if you and I disagree (and we do and have), I don't have a litmus test.

I have friends who post Takei's latest every day without fail. Friends I've known for years and years and years, all sides of the spectrum.

I am not sorry that I said to you what I did... I spoke the truth. I liked you as a friend. For me that doesn't change quickly.

You change your mind, let me know. But I won't take back what I said, it was solid advice then as now.

      • Ben's definition of friend is quite loose.

Please cite where I've ever stated that I believe that black people are an inferior race. I believe black people are just as capable as every other race in being successful in American society. I believe that lowering standards for black folks is ultimately harmful, especially in academics. Why? Because I believe that Black people can, with a certain amount of effort reach the exact same standard as everyone else.

            • Ben, since you're going to hell anyway, suicide might be seen as redemptive at this point. Just throwing that out there.

              • Summary for those who couldn't be bothered reading this thread:

                Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah..............

I haven't read the thread either. Couldn't be bothered.

                • To go with the last statement of Ben's that I quoted in a slightly different interpretation ...

Net had amoebic dysentery a couple years back, and after several trips to the doctor had to be hospitalized. She is ok, because we had the resources to pay for the medicines and hospital stay. Vergel (Net's younger brother who was going to college in Tag at the time) also had amoebic dysentery last month. He had to go to the hospital too, and after at least one relapse is doing well now. (To what extent the witch doctor is to thank for that I don't deem to know ...)

A couple years ago a neighbor's child had to be rushed to the hospital, also with amoebic dysentery. I drove them to the hospital (our multicab has served as the neighborhood ambulance on many occasions). They have some money in their family and could pay for the medicines and hospital stay. The child ended up doing ok.

There was a boy who lives nearby here who died recently. From what I've heard, it was amoebic dysentery. I never heard about it until after the fact. They couldn't afford to go to the hospital (at least not one of the good ones), and the child died. Because of that there is certainly one less Filipino than there should be ...

A good sanitary water system and enough income to pay for healthcare would certainly not be a bad change around here. The idea that such improvements could possibly be bad for the people here is just ridiculous. Even if that extra income were to allow them to buy a condom or birth control pills if they chose ... or something horrible thing like that!

You need to go and learn what racism means, because that isn't it. Racism is the belief that a race is inherently superior or inferior to others. That is absolutely not necessary in this case.

No ****, but wishing for a colour-blind utopia simply isn't realistic at this point. We're at least a century away from anything even close.

                    You're being simplistic. Sorry.

How much 'truth' do you think blacks hear when whites tell them that despite everything that has been done to them on account of their race, suddenly they have to forget it all and not use their vote to help bring support black leaders who are still woefully underrepresented nationally?

I would probably tell them to vote for people that are actually able to do the job rather than simply voting for the black guy if they wish to advance the cause of racial equality and healing.

I don't believe I said that I even disagree with your course of action. I don't, I agree with many things. There are things that can be changed and made better. Where we disagree is that some of the changes are not good.
