Last time I checked, the only real requirement for the Papacy was being a confirmed Catholic male. Confirmation usually happens around 13-15, so there's nothing keeping a minor from being Pope.

Benedict IX is generally considered the youngest Pope, but he was sort of a lousy pontiff.
    John Brown did nothing wrong.

Those folks who are advocating women priests don't come from the vibrant part of the RC church. They're dying off or losing relevance otherwise.

As for married priests, I have nothing wrong with it in principle. But I don't think it will happen because the church is already increasing its married manpower through the revival of the diaconate.

FYI, there are married RC priests. Priests converting from Episcopal/Anglican keep their wives.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I do . Both are hour and half(ish). A more traditional Lutheran service on Sunday morning (well, with hymns and lectionary readings - but I have a quirky congregation that likes to have silences after the readings and a mild form of lectio divinia, where we're asked which words in the reading stood out to us. Also I think it is a more Protestant thing to open up part of the Prayers of the People to the congregation), and a contemporary music Lutheran service on Sunday evening. Both have Communion every Sunday.

It made a lot of sense when the Church had so much wealth and power, but I don't think it would be much of a problem today.
IIRC it also was to avoid losing Church lands (which would be split among the various children, some of which would not become priests).

                  No, that's having children.

Then marriage is the sickness leading to death.

Sounds likely. Records from that era are spotty at best.

This is why laity shouldn't read the Bible.

Revival? You mean y'all went without deacons for a while? I never knew that.

(Divine Liturgy at my church is two hours on average, and that's not especially long by our standards)

EDIT: Asked my wife, who has a Catholic background. She says Catholic deacons are a lot less prominent than Orthodox ones. Ours typically do half the work of a service for the priest, but she says the RCC ones don't have a clear liturgical role and are mostly responsible for addressing parish needs. Sort of a secretarial position?

I used to do the same when I was a protestant. Church Sunday morning with the Russian service followed by the English. Then we'd have tea in the afternoon together. I think DanS even commented that we Evangelicals spent a long time in church every Sunday. It was an all-day experience. I would drive out there with my good friend and we did that for years. We would leave at 8 and be back at 4, 5 just in time for dinner.

Then when he moved away, I used to split time, between the Catholic parish just down the street and the Mennonite church an hour away. I was probably doomed at that point when I realized I could spend the day with pretty young women and not have an hour commute on the bus.

Not secretarial, more like clergy who can relate better to the real world. Priests have a lot of respect, but they're sort of elevated and isolated. Deacons are more like regular people. They also handle baptisms, oversee RCIA (the program for converts), and otherwise help take some of the workload off the priests.
