Have you ever been around deaf people? They tend to sound like they have down's syndrome. People often think they're retarded because they make funny noises because they can't hear themselves.

Gay people may get trouble from religious types, but if you some up the issues deaf people have, prejudice and actual physical disability, the deaf people have it worse hands down.

Deaf people have it worse than gay people. That is just a fact. Saying gay people have it harder than people who cannot hear is unbelievably retarded.
They have it harder as a disability, not harder because people torture them and tie them to a fence to die.

On top of that, Ben just doesn't hear certain tones. He's not completely deaf.

Okay, well hard of hearing is in degrees. Some people who are hard of hearing can hear things like vehicle noises and threats to their safety but can't make out speech.

          • As much as we like to rip on Ben and as much as he deserves it, regexcellent is correct that deaf people have it worse than gay people as a general rule. But Ben being a disgusting human being has nothing to do with his hearing problems.

Ben can hear mostly everything. Pretty much the only thing he doesn't hear are the frequencies that angels speak in.

                    • I am gradually going deaf and sometimes ask people to repeat what they say - especially if they are to my left, my weaker ear. To date, no one has said, "You f*cking deaf sh*t. We don't want your kind around here."... or at least I never heard that.

But I bet you have to deal with laws that forbid you from marrying someone who is not deaf.

I think the correct law would forbid me from marrying some who was going deaf.

Gay people are allowed to marry heteros of the opposite sex, right?

Besides, I have never heard of anyone claiming to be 'going gay in my left ear', and I've worked in theatre for 30 years!

                          • And most gays people I know wouldn't be hateful enough to say that businesses should be able to refuse business to deaf people like a certain deaf person here has claimed that businesses should be allowed to refuse service to gay people.

                              • Speaking of anti-gay, how about those Boy Scouts of America? How does their stance affect their relationship with the Girl Scouts? Explorers is supposed to have programs combined with the Girl Scouts, but what happens if a gay person wants to join an Explorers club and the Girl Scouts allows it?
What is the policy of the Boy Scouts of other nations?

My bad, I thought Exploring was a joint program, but apparently it's not.
