I live in a city where the economy is driven by oil. Tons of friends and family (and my partner) work in the oil industry and are directly impacted by oil. My province gets a huge source of its funding from oil.

So where's the disagreement? I'm arguing that all businessowners should be able to put up a sign saying, "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." How does such a sign target Christians?

They don't have to supply a reason. You cannot compel an owner to uphold a contract unless he signs it willingly. If an owner is willing to forgo the business, then I don't see the problem with it.

Doesn't stop a lot of douchebag American companies by trying. A few are proudly boycotting Alberta oil, instead using oil from countries with human rights issues.

Let's say oil is fungible.

Canada immediately cuts off all oil supply to the USA.

How do they make up the shortfall?

Do they buy more from the ME? Great -- how does it get there? Oh, there are no tankers sitting idle waiting to send massive amounts of oil across the world to make up for it. You'd need to build them all, and all of the port facilities

Now you have all of your oil coming in on a port. How do you get that across the nation? You'd need to build massive new pipeline networks to transport the oil inland. That takes many years...

I'm also not getting into the specifics of how not all oil is created equal and is upgraded differently, requiring new/different upgraders which may or may not exist.
