The Arabs slaughtered the Frankish SOLDIERS IN BATTLE at the Battle of the River Garonne. There is nothing wrong with crushing enemy combatants on the battlefield.

And answer my question as to why you separate French and Spanish kings but not Arab kings?

Ah, torture is OK so long as it's not as bad as what someone else allegedly does. Good to see your strong moral principles at work there.

          • You missed the part where they devastated the countryside, slaughtered civilians. You are ok with an unprovoked invasion, Albert? This is why the Crusades were called, because Europe was under invasion from Islam. They fought back but it took hundreds of years to reverse some of their defeats. Some have not yet been reversed. You invade, I don't see why it's bad to fight back.

I don't have a problem with torturing invaders. You come to my land, attack, kill, enslave and torture people, expect the same in return.

                • Wow... we've been over this before... There is nothing inherently Christian about Palestine. First the Hittites and Egyptians battled over it... the Hebrews came in and defeated the Canaanites... The Hebrews themselves were then conquered by Babylon... The Persians then came in... Alexander's Greeks conquered... Then his successors battled over the region... the Hebrews got their independence briefly but Rome asserted domination although the Palmyrans controlled the region for a little while... Somewhere along the line, Romans became Christian but the Persians smacked the Byzantines around a bit and took the area and Heraclitus had to reconquer it... Then the Bedouins come roaring out of the desert and take it.

Where the **** are you getting this idea that it is somehow Christian land?

And tell me what Christian lands the Prophet Mohammed conquered.

How? The Prophet died on June 8, 632. The Byzantine-Arab Wars didn't start until 634. The Battle of Yarmouk was in August 636.

I said the Levant. Two Patriarchs were located there, Jerusalem and Antioch.

So you admit that they were Christian? End of story. Why can't you pin down a date? Because that is not how Christianity works. Christianity spread around the world through force of persuasion , not the sword.

We don't need to kill people in order to 'convert' them. We don't need to invade them in order to show them what we believe. You kill Christians, we will fight back and protect them.

                      • WHAT?! THE LEVANT BELONGS TO THE WORSHIPERS OF BAAL! THEY WERE THERE FIRST!

Why is the Levant not for those who worship Baal? Or any of the religions of any of the peoples who conquered the area during its history? Why is Christian the final, legitimate conquest?

What? What land had the Cathars invaded? The bull wasn't issued against Muslims, you ****, it was issued because of "heretical" Christians.

The Church executed "heretics" who never hurt anyone. What did Giordano Bruno do that deserved being burned alive? Or Jan Hus? Or Savonarola? Or Patrick Hamilton? Or William Tyndale?

Thomas More is revered as a saint, but he had at least six men burned alive at the stake. Their crime? Having copies of the Bible in English...

Even so, this is remarkably un-Christian of you. I can't imagine Jesus would have ever said this, or approved of anyone saying this. What happened to turning the other cheek? Forgiving one's enemies?

Yet again you prove you're a ****ty Christian.

Oh my god... what history books have you read? The sword was used to convert or kill so often in Catholic history... let's look at the Mesoamerican peoples...

When did Christianity conquer them? They chose to become Christian, Albert.

Which is why the monks wrote that the church needed to be involved in protecting the people who were there before? Why they retain their faith today? They are no longer colonies of Spain, Albert. Yet they have chosen to keep their faith.

Do you know anything about those mesoamerican religions and how brutal they were to each other? The people believed they were freed from slavery and oppression.
