I assume by "stimulus" you mean the bank bailout.

And calling the Iraq War a "success" in any form is a stretch.

And Afghanistan is a far greater mess because it was ignored for too long in favor of a foolhardy invasion of Iraq. Obama has been giving it far more attention than the previous administration ever did.

Actually, to make this even comparable, you'd have to say something more like "If some crazy-ass Christian militia from the sticks killed 3000 innocents at WTC and a totally unrelated Christian group wanted to build a community center there, I'd have a problem with that too."
Yeah, because we all know that Islam isn't the religion for violent thugs...oh wait, it is.

Look, Jihad is an essential part of Islam. That much has been driven home. You are making excuses where none need to be made. This isn't the first, nor will it be the last terrorist attack conducted by Muslims.

yet somehow some cretins still think the billion or so Muslims on this earth are a single monolithic group.
Never said this. I did say that Muslims were responsible for the terrorist attack, which is true. And muslims will bear responsibility.

Ground zero still hasn't replaced the WTC towers, which is why I don't think there should be any new construction until this is finished. Period.

I hate using personal attacks, but... holy ****, you're dumb.

This isn't at Ground Zero. It is two and a half blocks away. There are strip clubs, bikini waxers, and crass 9/11 souvenir shops closer to Ground Zero than the proposed community center, which will not be visible from Ground Zero, nor will Ground Zero be visible from the site.

As long as you're willing to tear down every Catholic Church that's built within three blocks of an elementary school, not to mention any and all Christian churches built within three blocks of family planning clinics, former slave plantations, or lynching sites, please kindly shut the **** up you unbelievably vile, contemptible hypocrite.

            I like this counter argument.

                This isn't at Ground Zero.
Why do you think there isn't an existing building? That's because wreckage from 9-11 destroyed the previous building.

Wow, no bigotry here. I suppose you are right though, that the thousands of children killed in the abortuaries are just as offensive, if not more so than 9-11.

Look, no mosque construction on Ground Zero until the towers are back up. Deal? I think that's fair.

You are not the arbiter of what is or is not fair, Ben. The Constitution of the United States holds that position, and in a turn of events that surprises exactly nobody, you are diametrically opposed to it.

I have no particular beef with Catholics; I merely look for some consistency in your position, which is that all adherents of a given faith are equally culpable for the atrocities committed by an infinitesimal minority of said faith.

So, please, stay away from children; it's would be disrespectful to do otherwise.

Also--there is an existing building there, genius. It's an abandoned Burlington Coat Factory.

Which part of the constitution explictly says that houses of worship are exempt from zoning regulations?

So you plan to tell the victims that those culpable were an infinitesimal minority? Good luck with that. I think both you and I know that this is a total load of horse****.

Jihad is essential to islamic faith, and millions of people worldwide ascribe to it, fight for it, kill for it and die for it. Every day there are suicide bombings, it may be in Israel, Afghanistan, Iraq, India, the Phillippines, and occasionally, in London, Madrid, NYC, the Pentagon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Bali, Sudan, Nigeria, Moscow, the list goes on.

And you say this is an infinitesimal minority? What are you smoking, guy?

It's an abandoned Burlington Coat Factory.
Damaged by the 9-11 attack. Ground Zero, baby. There's no first amendment violation in telling these folks, build the damn mosque elsewhere. There is from the Feds funding the mosque, which oddly enough you've not said anything about.

Yep, another example of how the mosque opposition is rooted in islamophobia.

Feds funding the "mosque"? Which feds? And what mosque? It's a community center; it's essentially a YMCA, for crying out loud.

And no, they are not exempt from zoning laws. But the zoning laws say that it is a-okay to build there, so why the **** would you bring that up, Dip**** McGoo?

Ok, while Ben has complete and utter loony positions, this one must be up there. Any building damaged by 9/11 in any way = Ground Zero?! WTF?!

As others note, Bush oversaw and advocated for the creation of TARP legislation for good or bad. Not to be confused with Obama stimulus. One was efffective one was not.
