Lost: Season Six

There are a handful of very obvious CGI effects of dubious quality in the final few seasons of Lost.

The sunken Island scene from the premiere was of particularly dubious quality.

Exactly what I was thinking of, along with the sub in the season five finale.

Regarding Hurley: he was the one character who appeared to be truly, fundamentally different in the alternate universe. Everyone else was pretty much the same in their fundamentals--Jack the fixer, Sayid the ass-kicker, John the ashamed, Jin the douche, Charlie the junkie, Kate the psychopath, etc. But suddenly, Hurley is the luckiest man on Earth, he has no fear of anyone taking advantage of him because only good things happen to him.

Jack seemed to be different. He was nervous on the AR plane flight, while on the original flight he was calm and trying to calm down Rose. Also, it wasn't a very jack thing to say to Locke that nothing is impossible, since Jack has always been the reasonable one.

Regarding Jack/Rose: That's more of a subtle difference, as opposed to the whacking big one of Hurley. Doesn't say as much regarding the character.


And don't forget, that while Jack portrays himself as the hyper-rationalist, he is also the compulsive fixer. He promised multiple people, who were completely hopeless (his future wife, that Italian dude with the hot daughter), that he would fix them, ie "nothing is irreversible." I really don't think Jack was that different at all.

I watched first hour of the season premeire again last night --

I think Rose has some knowledge of what is going on. I don't remember what she and Bernard were like on the original flight, but they are all blissful on this one. In fact, they're the only happy ones on the flight (except maybe Hurley)-- everyone else, who has been trying to get off the island or had left and come back, is miserable. Bernard and Rose, who decided they wanted to stay, are blissful.

Also, Rose says two things that I found suspicious. She tells Jack "you can let go now", When she first says it it seems like a pretty loaded statement, then they cut to Jack and it is implied that she only meant that he was clutching the arm rests. Also, when Jack says "We made it". She says "We certainly did". Which also seems like a very heavy statement for just making it through a little turbulence. Again, I don't remember the original Jack/Rose interaction, perhaps this is just a play on that conversation, but to me it seems suspicious.

:shrug: When I watched it Jack seemed more changed to me than Hurley. Jack is less of a badass/arsehole in the AT. He didn't make any sarcastic remarks to the airplane stewardess like he did in OT. He bought into Locke's philosophical bs about losing only his dad's body. He seemed pretty clam considering that the airline had just lost his dad's casket. Hurley meanwhile is the same laid back person but with good luck instead of bad luck. We will see.

Somewhere else I read a theory that Hurley's good luck might be a result of the sunken island not transmitting numbers. So he'd have still won the lottery somehow, but not by using the jinxed sequence.

He didn't make any sarcastic remarks to the airplane stewardess like he did in OT.

His comments to Cindy were exactly the same, I think.

The lead role of Detective Steve McGarrett is rumoured to be Alex O'Loughlin's but no definite list of cast has been made known.

As I was rewatching the show last month, when he popped up in the third season, I thought, "Boy, that guy looks like Mac. Can't really be him." Holy ****, that's really him.
