Thanks - those do ring a bell. The person called Aldo in the previous episode also referred to an earlier incident from season 3 where Kate interacted with Ben's Others.

It just seems weird that the whole temple/Jacob's acolytes thing wasn't that integrated earlier. And the new leader guy seems to know far more about Jacob/Smokey than Ben has shown.

There simply has not been a bad Locke, Desmond, Sayid, Ben, or Hurley episode.

Not all of them have been great, but none of them have bad.

The writer's strike really screwed over the backstories of the freighter folk. I wish we'd gotten to see more of Daniel and Miles' past.

He's the same character. It's a cool identifiable character for eggheads, but it's the same character.

Now that I think of it, the Nikki & Paolo episode was also quite good, in a campy Tales From The Crypt sort of way. Plus, it ended with them getting buried the **** alive, which was awesome.

Nikki and Paolo would've sucked as regular characters, but they actually turned out to be alright as a single-episode diversion.

It is at least as good as the best episodes of season five (take your pick of either The Life And Death Of Jeremy Bentham, LaFleur, or The Variable), throwing into stark relief just how ****ty last week's episode was, and how ****ty a character Kate is.





That cave--holy living ****. Galnemer interrupted me briefly during that scene; the candidates were Locke (then crossed out), Hugo, Jack, James, and one or the other (or both?) Kwons, right? Please tell me Kate wasn't listed, for the love of all that is holy.

So why didn't the Lockeness Monster show Sawyer Kate's name on the Candidate Ceiling? I'm pretty sure her name's up there somewhere, as she was touched by Jacob just like the other candidates and got sucked into the past off of Ajira 316, just like candidates Jack, Sayid and Hurley (but not already dead candidate Locke). There are also six Numbers and, unless I misheard, Lockeness and Sawyer only went through five candidate names.

edit: I see Guy and I noticed the same thing. I think Kate's name is up there and Smoky avoided showing it to Sawyer (maybe he knew he couldn't manipulate Sawyer if he saw Kate's name up there?) and I'm guessing Jin is the Kwon candidate, not Sun, which is why Sun didn't get sent to 1977 along with the rest of the Ajira candidates.

Candidates were Locke (4), Hurley (8), Sawyer (15, I think), Jack (23), Kwon (one of 16 or 42). There must be one more candidate that we didn't see (probably Kate).
