I watched 1 episode of Lost, and was totally lost. I don't need the aggravation.

Dude, you know you're just baiting Drake with a post like that, right?

      Two more thoughts:

      1. I'm not sold on Richard having arrived on the Black Rock, let alone being one of its transported slaves. Remember, when Ilana walked to the statue, she said, "Where is Ricardus?" That Latin name suggests an origin far older than the Black Rock, which would fit given that Jacob and Esau's conversation hinted at people having come to the island over and over and over again. For all we know, all the people at the Temple (except Cindy, Zack, and Emma) are also "immortal", having been the survivors of the innumerable other Island landings.

      2. I'm also holding out the possibility that we are not, in fact, looking at two different realities. Remember, the so-called original timeline we're seeing is in 2007; the "alternate" is in 2004. But the people in 2007 just woke up in that time, not knowing exactly how they got there. Perhaps as the "alternate" timeline advances, we'll see events that put the "alternate" Juliet into the middle of the imploded Swan, Kate up in the tree, Jack & Miles & James & Sawyer & Sayid & Jin scattered around...

It's not likely, at all, especially given how I can't reconcile that with how Ilana & Richard & Sun & Frank are also present on the Island and never jumped through time, let alone the sunken Island in 2004, but it is something to consider.

I'm thinking that not-Locke was Apophis, who certainly would have been a bit touchy about the subject of chains, particularly if he was talking to one of the people who used to hold him down. Also of note is that the smoke monster often has a definite snake-like form, like Apophis, and there are usually the sounds of chains while it moves.

Given the previous Egyptian references, it seems like the closest fit to me.
        Interesting theory. I like it.

Neither am I. I took Smokey/Fake Locke's comment about Richard being "free from his chains" as a reference to Richard no longer having to serve the now-dead Jacob. I think people are reading far too literal a meaning into that comment.

I should've watched the previous season or something before the premiere. My memory sucks, was confused for much of it.

The hour-long recap before the premiere was actually pretty effective and is available on Hulu.

Did you watch the summary hour prior. It was a decent refresher. UNLESS YOU WERE MY WIFE. *sigh*

Nope, didn't watch that. My PVR didn't tape it as it wasn't named "Lost", and Hulu doesn't work in Canada. Oh well.

Don't all the Others speak Latin? I remember Juliet saying at one time that this was their preferred language or something. But yea he could be much older than the Black Rock.

I'm pretty sure they're going to find out that the island is actual a pocket dimension within the Great Pyramid. They escape only to be eaten by mummies.
