  • How does a changing birth rate in countries which are not starving (which is the only places where the birth rate will change, based on first world behavior), make it so that there are less starving people in the starving countries?

The US having a higher birth rate, or Italy or Japan, will not increase the number of starving people in the world at all. It does not exacberate the problem.

    • I think a higher birth rate in Japan or Italy would actually result in less starving people.
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

Because then you don't need to send as much food - not to mention the fact that condoms weigh less than food. As for population control, I am assuming that if someone sticks a condom on their dick it's because they don't want kids - or deadly diseases. So that is an unnecessary assumption on your part.

No, quite the opposite. I assume that people are valuable in and of themselves, and that with an increase in the population we would expect to see greater innovation. I assume that government will be corrupt and try to stall innovation, which is why they support population control.

All I am arguing is that sending condoms instead of food is disastrous. I am not calling for active measures to 'increase the population', all I am saying is that we should just get out of the way.
Why not just let the local population decide for itself?

I don't think anyone is threatening to make people wear condoms at gunpoint, so to speak...

So, basically you're saying the Catholic Church is evil. And, by extension, so is BK.

          • BK using LK as an argument leads me to think he's playing way too much CivIV - what an absurd argument.

If that theory should have any validity, then I suggest that all women are impregnated either naturally or artificially every year. That will make this world sound and prosperous.

Just because LK being the seventh child doesn't mean that a child from a family with only one such can't make the same discoveries.

            • condoms are of more long term benefit than food.
This, again, is the anti-human attitude that I am combatting. Why are condoms more valuable than food?

the Catholic Church opposes birth control because they love people
              Exactly so.

However, sending a short term solution to end a famine, in a country where continuous famines are the result of corruption and, yes, overpopulation, at least vis a vis that nation's available resources/technology, is certainly more disastrous than shipping condoms.
So much for lassez faire! Short term help is better than long-term dependency and sexual imperialism.

How about just letting them be and not trying to impose population control on them? There have been campaigns where they have sterilized people without their consent, paid for by the UN.

Stop changing the goalposts. We're talking about condoms, not sterilisation (proof please).

Condoms don't sterilise people - or is this the latest lie your ilk are spreading!!?

You give a family condoms, they can choose whether to use them. It is their choice - a point you've seen fit to ignore for whatever reason.

For whatever reason, you feel the need to strip away peoples freedoms.

My response is that, yes, in fact they do sterilize them coercively. Same population controllers.

Bull****! Says the man who wants to see China's one child policy everywhere, probably the most coercive population controllers in the world.

This sterilisation crap you've suddenly started spouting about has nothing to do with my point about condoms! Another Bennist leap of faith and logic!

PROOF! I asked for proof and you ignore my request, so AFAIC this sterilisation is a figment of your imagination until you provide trustworthy links.

I didn't realise you were so eager to learn Chinese - China itself reckons there are at least 300mn fewer Chinese because of their policy...

I don't want it - but I think it is fast becoming a necessary tool to consider in the face of the impending resources crunch that we are about to suffer. Your feeble-headed concept of unrestrained population growth is an impossibility because we are dealing with a world of finite resources. Some of the stuff you spout is childishly naive at such an elementary level...
