Well, I was right to say I wouldn't put money on the race.
As a Democrat, the outcome does not surprise me at all - the Dems. have done a very poor job this year, and let the debate get away from them. The Republicans will retake the house and the only reason the Dems. will keep the Senate this year will be due to the rotation of seats that is up. Coincidentally, that will all seem like horrible news for Obama, but I predict it will play ou just like it did for Clinton (another president declared done after only a year or so). Obama will have 2011 and 2012 to play off against a Republican congress run by brain dead imbeciles who will actually have to try to put forward a plan to govern, and given that their current sole idea seems to be to return to the policies that put us in this mess in the first place, they will likely screw up.
As for Mr. Brown, good luck holding the seat in 2012.....If you don't like reality, change it! me

You know, the thing that really just completely baffles the **** out of me is this:
Bush never had anything close to 60 seats in the Senate, and he still got every single thing he ever wanted.

Bush passed things that had strong public support, like tax cuts and kicking the **** out of foreigners after 9/11. When he actually tried to do something unpopular (Social Security reform, comprehensive immigration reform), he also failed.KH FOR OWNER!

Democrats lack the ruthlessness of the Republican party.
The current debate about "purging" the Republican party of anyone not sufficiently pure of ideology is the sort of arguement you could NEVER get with the Democrats - they are always going to be an unsteady wobbly coolition - always have. The idea that a bunch of Dem. legislators would swallow their pride and pass something antithetical to their core beliefs in the name of party unity (you know, like republicans voting to pass the largest expansion of Medicare in decades even though the system itself if supposedly the road to that evil of Socialism) doesn't really happen. If you don't like reality, change it! me

However, back in 2008, health reform had strong public support, too. The Dems, per usual, let the GOP frame the debate, and frittered everything away.

And Tom Schaller is already calling out Brown as a 2012 contender. Not that I disagree - he has the potential to be a not-insane Sarah Palin.
Brown would be smart to wait on a potential presidential bid. One of the clear lessons of this evening is that a first-term US Senator really isn't cut out to be President of the United States.
However, back in 2008, health reform had strong public support, too.
Yes, reform of the healthcare system in general has broad public support. There isn't broad public agreement on what shape that reform should take, however, which is how you end up in the current situation where one type of healthcare reform is extremely close to becoming a reality and the public hates it so much that they just elected a Republican in Massachusetts to stop it.KH FOR OWNER!

I don't watch any of the news channels (not only because I don't have cable TV but because i get sick of them quickly), but what exactly is wrong about his critique of Scott Brown not denouncing the calls for violence against his opponent? I don't like John McCain, but he always had the decency to counter the crazy **** said against Obama in his rallies - why should Scott Brown not be expected to act with the same courtesy?
Well, it was one lone nut, who Brown may not have even heard or understood. I mean, if I randomly heard someone shout out something about shoving a curling iron up someone's butt, I may think I must've heard that wrong.
It's not at all like when McCain had his town hall meetings and people would say directly to him that Obama was a Muslim, etc.
